Just remember where you heard it first. Diaconu had a great amatuer career, but is being over rated for an impressive KO of a journeyman. He doesn't have anything apart from power that can really trouble Dawson. Dawson will just be too quick and will use his angles and combination punching to befuddle the slower challenger.
Dawson will probably win most of the rounds en route to a wide UD. But all Diaconu needs to win is to land one clean shot.
Dawson will be a definite favorite, but everything is possible in boxing, and Dawson is still young, and will make mistakes like most young fighters do. When you fight a man with pop, you better watch out.
True, but I don't think Dawson is as chinny as people are making out. I have yet to see him actually hurt.
No, Kessler knows how to watch out. I think he thought that one Aussie would suffice, and why not take the best of the two? Besides beating two Aussies would make him rather impopular in Australia, and he enjoys being liked.
I don't remember the details - but fear was never an issue, why would it? Green is a tier 2 fighter. Yes, Mundine was better, but you have to remember that Kessler had recovered from a slipped disc one month prior to meeting Choc. Furthermore, Kessler is much better also, and now(came when he was facing Choc) has a martial arts physical trainer to prevent further back injuries.
I think Adrian's power is overrated. Yeah, he has good power, but in no means he's a great puncher. He fought a lot of fighters from lower weights (even some guys who fought in jr middle before). And he couldn't KO guys who went to the canvas in fights with super middles with less power.
Diaconnu has improved a lot in his past three or four fights, I never actually thought he could end up in a championship fight. That doesn't mean that he's going to win though. It's pretty clear that Dawson is superior in every aspects except for chin and power. Adrian's only chance is to catch Dawson with one of his wide left hook and finish him off.
I've been saying this since the fight was announced. I also said Dawson would thrash him and stop him late, I stand by that.
I only saw Diaconu vs. Rico Hoye. Hell of a performance but I would like to see more (of both of them really). Gut instinct says Dawson, but I've seen a lot of people giving high praise to Diaconu, so to me it's up in the air.
