Here is a champ that will no longer hold a belt. I just heard that Dawson won't be able to duck Diaconu. So, he's better to get ready to face a much better opposition in his next defense. Can't wait!!

dumb thread. Dawson was scheduled to face Diaconu when Diaconu pulled out with an injury.

There is no indication that Dawson was even gonna try to duck him. He is proabably not worried at all. Just pissed cause this fight will not have a big purse.

No duh he can't duck him. Not that he did. Diaconu = Mandatory. No ducking was involved. Diaconu got a hand injury sparring. And im sure it was serious, casue this man is hungry.

Are you seriously suggesting that Dawson tried to duck Diaconu?

A day or two ago, the WBC Convention has given Dawson the OK for an optional defence until the 25th of January 2008. Also, Diaconu has been reconfirmed as Dawson's mandatory. I think this is what the threadstarter is referring to.

What the "ducking" misunderstanding refers to is that Dawson was considering fighting Tarver before his mandatory, Diaconu. The fans didn't but it, and Dawson v. Diaconu was made.

Some rumours appeared recently that Dawson was going to pay Diaconu step-aside money, to allow him to fight Tarver, before fighting him...

Some other rumours say Diaconu won't take the money...he'll insist on fighting Dawson next...

    Rumours, you know...

 Oops...they ripped your head off, didn't they...:!:

Don't worry...as long as Diaconu gives it his best shot and makes an exciting fight, he will continue to have many fans, even on ESB...it's just that Dawson is one of the best, very talented and loved by all - also, we want him to remain unbeaten to face Calzaghe in a year or so - so be careful what you say about Dawson...;)

Dawson will give Diaconu a boxing lesson. It will be like watching Mayweather vs Baldomir. If Dawson wants to remain in the divison I suppose he should fight his mandatory, but why is he wasting time on these minor league fights? If Dawson had any sense he would be calling out one or all of the heavyweight beltholders.

He's 25...only fought 25 fights...what's the rush? Who are these heavyweights you are talking about? Have-been NAMES like Tarver, who are only good to stuff a resume with or...Hopkins, or what? I think Dawson could have a great year ahead of him, fighting high quality opposition, even if he doesn't end up fighting Calzaghe...

...He still needs a year or so before he is ready to call out the very best, I think.
