Chad Dawsons trainer, John Scully, was interviewed by ESB regarding Bad Chads upcoming fight with Andre Ward. Here are some interesting quotes:

I think Scully is right to a degree. But if Dawson wanted the fight, pursued it, his coach shouldn't complain about having to make agreed upon concessions, particularly the weight. But I imagine Ward will be moving up at some point soon. Hell, who knows, maybe if this fight is a good one(which I don't see in the cards really, it may be competitive, but probably not esthetically pleasing.), and if Ward wins, maybe we'll get a rematch at 175.

I do wish the fight was somewhere outside of Oakland, but I can see how it makes sense.

All the pressure is on Ward.. He absolutely has to win that fight and he has to look good doing so being that he has every advantage. Bad Chad experienced this before with Pascal so mentally he should be ready.

    Dawson should get extra credit.

    Excuses already!

Really like them both, but Ward is just a wolverine.

If weight is really not an issue, don't be surprised if Dawson upsets Ward.

With that said, I wouldn't bet on this fight.

It's bull****, of course. It shouldn't need to be explained.

Ward beats Dawson at super middle or light heavy. Unfortunately, Ward doesn't have the balls to do it at light heavy or catch. When he wins people will say it was because of weight. The main reason I have him winning over Dawson is because Dawson only fights in spurts and Ward has a good enough defense to not get caught. He's a smarter fighter and will outbox him at any weight.

Well Dawson definitely has weighed at least 191 very recently and that was on fight night. He's likely been 200 or more easy when not training. Andre Billy Goat Ottke.......

Ward will suffocate Dawson keeping him on the ropes and stay in the inside. This will be an ugly, boring fight like when he fought Kessler. Dawson can't deal with the inside game as Hopkins has shown. Ward is probably the smartest fighter in the ring right now. He knows what he has to do to win and it doesn't need to be pretty. Another UD for Ward.

Dawson is much fleeter of foot and hand though. I do think it will be ugly and boring as you said(and possibly the butts, of which I think there will be some), I don't think it will resemble the Kessler fight. I don't see it being so lopsided as Ward/Kessler. I actually expect it to be extremely tight actually. Maybe an SD.

this fight should've been at 170 c.w or at 175 pounds in Vegas or New York.

If Dawson will make the weight with no problems and the rehydration will go well, then it should be a competitive fight between 2 great talented fighters. :yep

fighting at 168 pounds in Ward's backyard , it doesn't seems too fair for Dawson imo

an ugly fight that dawson can easily win. I agree that wants all the advantages all the time. not true champion character. until he ventures outside the USA or into 'enemy' territory then he cannot be considered a great fighter.
