What I learned? Parker is the best of the 4 guys fighting tonight He let Aj off the hook and the ref didn't help. Although I back Fury, it doesn't look good when he fights Usyk, but we will wait and see. P.s heavyweight sucks compared to when Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson where fightin. Even post prison Tyson flattens all 4 of these bums easily Lewis must be tempted to come out of retirement for one more. He would probably still beat these bums. What a s..t era
I didn't see every fight but going by outcomes and how sloppy Fury looked weeks ago: There's Usyk at the top.....................then everyone else. The rest of the division is the wild west and there's someone that can beat someone else in any potential matchup.................except for Usyk
1. I would actually like to see Miller vs a lot of fights. Wilder is one of them. 2. He is not, and he was always been like that, overrated to hell. 3. He always was. 4. He was never gone, just his hater were saying nonsenses 5. Agree 6. Disagree. Boxing is about style and he literally blew his gas tank for 2 rounds, throwing with all the power he can create. Kabayel has solid chin, and Makmudov didn't have a plan B. He is not a great fighter, but he still can cause a lot of people problems. But he is not young, so he is in trouble. 7. Agree.
I'm actually with you on that one... Just to see whether Wilder's chicken legs can cope with that bulk, and whether Wilder can crack a genuinely good chin when it's wide open to be hit.
1) Father Time beats Dr Sleep 2) Parker is looking the best he ever has under Andy Lee 3) Joshua fought very relaxed tonight - whether that is Davidson, I don't know but he was very sharp 4) Bivol is still probably the best technician in the sport 5) Although Makh was one-dimensional, Kabayel still impressed and could give folks in top 10 problems with his mobility and bodywork
Agree with all of this, Kabayel could be a difficult fight for a lot of the top guys. I’d like to see him vs Sanchez next.
My thoughts - trying to be objective on this, are: 1 - Wilder and Fury both suffer reputational damage, and to be honest they only have themselves to blame as their resumes were both predicated almost entirely on the fact that they only fought each other (aside from Fury’s victory over Klitschko of course). 2 - there really is no shortcut to creating a legacy other than fighting consistently good opposition. All of a sudden, Wallin goes from being touted due to his performance against Fury to being an easy win for Joshua. Parker goes from being “boring and paint dry” when he was a Joshua victim, to easily conquering Wilder and now being a top name again. 3 - all this cherry picking and smoke and mirrors comes back to bite you eventually. We genuinely didn’t know much about Wilder due to his protected reign, and so now as a result we feel we don’t know much about Fury (especially in light of his arguable defeat to a debutante). 4 - boxing fans vote with their heart over their head time and time again. I get it, it’s a passion inducing sport - so it’s totally understandable. But the only true metric and honest arbiter is by fighting the fights. Something Joshua, love him or hate him, was doing consistently whilst Wilder and Fury were busy utilizing each other for leverage. Does this mean Joshua beats Fury? Absolutely not. BUT, it means Joshua is undoubtedly the more proven commodity than either of his two biggest rivals at this point, and always warranted more credit than he was given.
Absolutely agree, I’m fed of fanboys trying to justify cherry picking and taking easy fights. There’s no shame in losing when you fight the best, you still have to do it. Wilder is at the end of his career and has one signature win, the rest are a bunch of c and d level journeymen. He lost every time he stepped up against a top 10 guy in their prime. Joshua beat several. Those are the facts.
It doesn't automatically mean Joshua beats Fury, no. But given how much deeper his resume is and that he's put in a very good performance (whilst Fury was sloppy in Wilder #3 and plain awful against Ngannou) does suggest that it wouldn't be unwise to favour him somewhat at this point... Heavyweight boxing anything can happen, but I certainly wouldn't bet on Fury beating AJ at this point.
And that’s why we fight the fights. Always has been. Tonight was a very good and sobering example of that. What a sport.
I kept waiting for Makhmudov to attack and he seemed strangely docile . He honestly looked completely lost and when he was hit he almost seemed astonished . So much for him now, I was at least expecting a big fight before he was exposed.
