I would like to have seen maybe Paulie Mag in there, he always has good insight and ads some colour. That line up just seems very grey, PC and safe IMO

SRL is just not very good. Seems very colorless; seems to try and avoid any strong comments.

Brian Kenny is not a boxing announcer. Don't know about the rest of the team.

    Very safe but boring team.

AT LEAST THEY AVOIDED MAURO RANELLO. YES I AM YELLING JUST LIKE HE FREAKING DOES ALL THE FREAKING TIME.

People are talking about George Foreman....I think Sean "The Champ" O'Grady is at least as good as big George.
"you have to make your opponent like getting hit". etc.

I don't care for that snake in the grass Leonard as a person

Ray Leonard = One of the greatest fighters ever, yet one of the worst commentators ever.

In all the decades he's been commentating, I can't think of any real insight that Leonard's ever provided in a fight. Ever.

He's nothing but cliches and talking points.

"Fighter A needs to use his jab more, and fighter B needs to dig that body." Blah, blah, blah.

Unlike Roy, Paulie, and Ward, who will actually give you an insightful and technical breakdown of what's happening and WHY. Bradley too, to an extent... Bradley is definitely improving and becoming very good.

But yeah, Leonard has badly regressed as a commentator since the 80s... and even in the 80s he wasn't very good.

Now he just sounds like he's half awake and collecting a check.

    Hahahaha

"This night the referee is the most important guy in the ring other than the fighters."

It must have taken incredible self control not to burst out laughing when you're working with George, if he felt like merchant or Lampley were ridiculing him he could have smashed them.

Lampley did start subtly teasing him after a few years "look at their shoulders George, they're huge!" But George either didn't notice or he was just a good aport

Yup. "he broke his leeeeegs!"...Grant gets up

"Mhmmm he bent his neck, down his spine, you don't wanna get up from that"

George was odd but loveable as a commentator

Can't wait for Leonard to constantly keep referencing himself and continually mispronounce unknown fighter's last names.

Showtime's is still the class of boxing.

I like Brian Kenny, had the pleasure of interviewing him once. SRL is the greatest fighter of my lifetime, hands down, but he's not a great broadcaster. Paulie is far better, and I even like Ward's insights better than Leonard's.

    Good, but not great cast.

Granderson. Why? They have tried to insert him into tennis majors and he flopped like a fish out of water. Now they want to plug him into big-time boxing. What has this guy done to deserve this kind of position? Leonard is just a go along to get along type announcer. You never get any real analysis from him. Kenny is solid.

I know a lot of people have said they are not crazy about RJJ but I think he would be a strong addition. He calls it the way he sees it and more often than not he analyzes things well.

I like SRL as a commentator. He's not annoying like Paulie Maliganggi, or Mauro Ranallo who both I can't stand listening to. I have no problem listening to SRL. He breaks the action down in a unique way, he doesn't overwhelm you with loud obnoxious outbursts, he keeps it very even keeled which I like. Brian Kelly I don't particularly like but I'd take him over Paulie Maliganggi or Mauro Ranallo any day of the week.

So right there it's a much better team than you get on Showtime. When I see fans complaining about SRL as a commentator, I don't really get it. I mean you have to ask yourself who is worse as a commentator, SRL or Paulie Maliganggi or Mauro Ranallo. He's better than those two guys, easier to listen to. It's not even close. He's also a legend who it's easy to respect unlike Paulie who's become a clown since he retired and Ranallo who might be the most annoying human being in the entire world.

I think RJJ would be a great addition to SRL on commenatory, RJJ and SRL would be a great commentary team. I would be OK with Brian Kenny SRL and RJJ, or maybe they find someone else or they rotate guys in and out. But for big Canelo fights I would like to see RJJ on DAZN, maybe RJJ isn't announcing he would move to DAZN until HBO does their last fight.
