Cool fight. His only defeat was a close SD with Danny Jacobs. Him and Canelo mixing it up in October is cool with me.
what does that mean "Approved"? I've never heard that terminology when it comes to selecting opponents lol. didn't know a network has to "Approve" a opponent, isn't that the promoters job lol
They do if they have an expensive contract and want to make some money back. It's quite common for netwotks to not apptove on an opponent if they know the fight won't get enough views/buys/subscriptions. They're in it to make money, not to throw it away.
ohhh yeahhh sure.. totally make sense.. thats why they picked Steve Rolls for GGG right? Steve Rolls has a lot of pull and gets huge numbers. explains why he got approved. they also approved Rocky Fielding from Canelo. My point is, that DAZN sets the bar very low for opponent approval LOLOL ... I could probably get on it if I wanted.
Good morning mister brilliant! First, that was Golovkin's introduction to the network after a long layoff. Second, Golovkin isn't making anyway near the money Canelo is supposed to. Third, they aren't going to allow Golovkin to fight another Steve Rolls either. Fourth, it has been documented that DAZN wanted a big name opponent for Canelo, either Kovalev or Golovkin. And when Kov fell trough Canelo and his team issued a statement they would forgo the September date. Fifth, networks have declined opponents regularly, as HBO was known for denying Maravilla and Ward opponents in the past. This isn't something new.
Derevyanchenko is a game fighter, but has nothing on Alvarez. While it's much better than another Fielding type of beating, this fight doesn't seem exciting at all. Well, he's a mandatory though, so he earned his spot. I hope that he proves me wrong and makes the fight close.
Without additional conditions? Because they were ready to approve Derevyanchenko, but Canelo would have to fight Golovkin immediately after that. Which wasn't cool with Alvarez.
Then you have not paid close attention to these sorts of things. HBO at times turned down multiple fights because they did not approve of the opponent. Andre Ward had one or more fights turned down by HBO. Serigo Martinez vs Sebastian Zbik was turned down by HBO. Zbik was the mandatory and Martinez lost his WBC belt because of HBO's decision. The kicker was that HBO allowed Chavez Jr. vs Zbik for the vacant WBC belt. Sergio Martinez ended up fighting Serhiy Dzinziruk. Why Dzinziruk? Because HBO owed Gary Shaw a fight. Boxing corruption at it's finest. Top Rank, HBO and the WBC ****ed Martinez real nice. (P.S. Sulaiman, the head-hancho at WBC, bet against Martinez before Martinez VS Chavez Jr. Some real shady ****.)
HBO turned down HW Championship fights.. Notably Klitschko vs Chaggy unifaction. They said no thanks.. lol
Why did Canelo have to be a drug cheat? he would be my favourite fighter if he weren't. yet another top opponent
