Not sure what you are arguing about and have misunderstood my point. I was just saying that for people who cannot stream due to lack of internet services an app on a smart TV doesn't make things easy for them so you saying it's not a hassle clicking a button doesn't effect them at all. Yes it maybe a small % of population but they exist and deserve to be not forgotten about. Not sure how you saw this as streaming platforms should stop there operations. At the same time, like I said before, discovery+ broadcast there live sport on TV channels so using them as support when talking about an app being no hassle like using DAZN is weak. DAZN themselves now have TV channels on sky Italia and Sky Germany. Recently added channels in Spain also. If they expand in the UK I think it's pretty clear they will be aiming to get a channel on the Sky platform. Even Netflix are dipping there toes in the TV market in france.
So do people think BT/discovery merger will see them trying to take on Sky and be number 1 sports broadcaster in UK or will they instead consolidate there No 2 position and keep DAZN away. Here a good read on how the DAZN/BT deal collapsed and what it means for DAZN in regards to launching IPO. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/busines...onard-blavatnik-pursue-sports-deal-discovery/ Off topic but DAZN Germany subscription fee doubles like in Italy after big money spending to gain rights. https://www.sportspromedia.com/news/dazn-subscription-cost-increase-germany/#:~:text=Sports streaming service DAZN is,effective from 1st February.&text=An annual subscription is available,€149.99 (US$169.15).
BT's rights + Eurosports rights if they just stayed the same would be a very strong contender to be number 1. Maybe not in terms of subscribers though. Whoever is the main premier league rights holder is number 1.
If anyone took the darts off Sky they'd make some inroads. Nothing other than darts and (selected) premier league games draw any real audience.
Tv deal for only English home cricket rights is a billion. Bt has some overseas rights. Darts isn't bigger!
Yeah, cricket draws in well over 500k viewers for a home test day on Sky. Talk recently about ECB and SKY signing up to an extended 10 year deal for all home cricket.
The sports aren't where the money is though, even Sky have learned this, now BT, you need to get people to buy in, almost like Apple, into Sky TV, broadband, phones, other bits etc
I am known locally as a Sky/BT Mug Subscriber as most people in the UK watching boxing for free every weekend.
Ita going to be great everytime you want to call your nan, you have to make 14 phone calls to latvian taxi drivers then a couple final eliminator phone calls to a faded polish ex plumber and one final phone to carson jones then you can call your nan. Will cost 19.99 a call and be poor quality but afterwards Tony Bellew will be screaming what a phone call.
