In Germany Dazn has two channels on sky platform. Customers can sign up to DAZN through sky also. This hasn't been repeated in Italy so it's no guarantee sky UK and DAZN will come to an agreement.
Good little read. https://www.digitaltveurope.com/comment/bts-potential-sports-deal-with-dazn-suits-all-parties/
Interesting, thanks for posting that. I guess in the short term DAZN is not a competitor like BT was, in terms of packaged services. DAZN will never get into domestic broadband, mobile or anything like that, so the others will be happy enough to carry its channels wholesale. Sky will get bothered when DAZN competes for Premier League rights next time, but ultimately after the auction settles, they're not competing for 3 years so the sports fan may well benefit.
Probably better if DAZN don't try to be #1. It should just try to establish itself for 5 years concentrating on key rights. Trying to get every sport possible just means price increases.
The money tap is starting to run dry now. Len filled up the bag but unfortunately burnt a whole in it with this Dazn venture and a night with Rita Ora not long ago
Price Changed I cannot see anything positive in multiple sports subscriptions in the UK and we already have Sly Sports, BT Sports, Premier Sports and Amazon Prime subscriptions if we want to watch all the sport. Now we have the poor value DAZN UK subs at £7.99 for 1-2 UK boxthing cards per month. All these subs are steaming upwards every year and something has to give in the market. Still no confirmation of the BT Takeover and when it does, I expect the BT Sports sub to increase from £29.99 to £49.99 within one year.
The cost was always likely to be £25-30 per month. This is cheaper than current subs to both Sky and BT. The plan eventually is to have enough sports rights that eventually they will be able to buy global rights like Matchroom but for other sports. The plan is to drive the competition out and have all the best sports for a lower price.
I get that but if they get the BT rights I can easily seeing it quickly being more than the current amount we pay for BT.
Cannot believe they are not automatically refunding all their customers the sub for January for showing fresh air. A huge own goal in the long-term
