Just a joke mate. Im not overly fussed who gets what aslong as i get we get good boxing overall. I watch less and less football these day anyway.
DAZN UK just like every company before them have learnt sport rights in the UK are very expensive. finally we will see the end of the dudes on twitter believing they will be getting the premier League/champions League for £8.99 per month. That was never gonna happen.
If you search on Google it says the current deal expired November 2021 but can't be right as there was no news about any new UK deal once that passed.
Absolutely this. It would have been the same price if not a couple of quid more than a BT package at the moment, without any other supplementary product/package (broadband etc) is about £25 a month I believe.
Who was it that acquired them along with Italian football? Then disappeared almost immediately after announcing the deals
Makes you wonder what will happen to Matchroom's stable over the next couple of years. With a lack of exposure will fighters prefer to go with Sky or BT to boost their profile? Even if DAZN have plenty of backing, seems like a good opportunity for their rivals to make some head way.
I think it's partly this, and partly the carriage deals with Sky, BT TV, and Virgin. DAZN chose the word "uneconomical" very carefully. Let's face it, they want to be a direct to consumer streaming app, whereas BT's model was always to sell via a third party. I don't know what kind of cut Sky take, but they aren't a charity. Ultimately if they didn't renegotiate / get out of these deals, it could have been another straw to drive them away. All that said, that's just guesswork. As a consumer who gets both BT Sport and Eurosport via Virgin right now, I hope this doesn't change much. As an aside, Discovery's investment in a project isn't always a sign of high quality, but Eurosport are good at what they do and BT Sport's presentation of sport is imho the best in the UK. Hopefully this is a rare merger that results in better results for the consumer.
