This is crazy that it's 12:35 AM CT and 1:35 AM ET and the main event hasn't started yet.

Chon being ...er, sung/played into the ring by... I'm not quite sure what this is.

A bunch of brass musicians and handful of vocalists doing a weird banda/mariachi barbershop quartet hybrid thing, wearing bright sequined turquoise suits.

It's as strange as it sounds. It's also the most extremely Mexican I've seen...ever.

Still only 10:35pm in Temecula ...but yeah they apparently DGAF about fans who aren't on the West coast. :(

Redkach looks as much as ever like somebody willing to barter meth for sexual favors in the bathroom of a highway rest stop McDonalds.

Height difference is listed as 1½″ but looks to be a lot more.

    Round 1

Redkach is meeting his fellow southpaw in the middle of the ring, first to start jabbing. Zepeda is measuring him - finally uncorks a huge body shot. Redkach down and in agony but manages to beat the count. Zepeda jumps on him, right hooks and lefts scoring behind Redkach's elbows. Uppercut by Zepeda. Right hook on the cheek, big sweeping left on the breadbasket from Zepeda. Redkach looks hurt again, gulping air, but still jabbing back at Zepeda. Redkach's head snapped back by a Zepeda right jab.

    10-8 Zepeda

Amazed that Redkach survived that, honestly. I already had "KO1" provisionally typed into my post with a minute left.

    Round 2

Zepeda is fencing with Redkach, both showing their right jab. Zepeda keeping vigil for a body shot opening - and he finds one! Redkach down and hurt badly again. Zepeda pounces the moment it's time in and there's another knockdown from a body combo and the ref waves it off.

    TKO2!!

Might have been more interesting had Redkach taken a bump of aside Meth in the locker room.

Nice statement by Chon to make a case for himself mounting one last contender run (this was apparently for the interim WBC silver belt...a fact not listed on BoxRec. Maybe punches his ticket soon to cracking top 15?). He snaps a two loss skid, and becomes the fastest person to ever stop Redkach.

Chon says he feels stronger and better than ever at 147. Eh...kind of hard to gauge that against Redkach, who is a shot also-non-welterweight that still wouldn't have been on his level in their primes. But he did wipe the deck with him, so. :nusenuse:

Exactly my thoughts. Looks like Zepeda has some life left him at 147 as he completely dominated Ivan, but any decent welterweight might just overpower him.
Zepeda is a good addition to the lower levels of the division. Heck, if Barrios managed to win a belt, then maybe Zepeda can get a few good wins.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what Redkach said when he debuted at Welterweight and brutalized Devon Alexander. He's lost every meaningful match since. Sadly, I think Zepeda is deluding himself just like Redkach did. Redkach's showing against Jukembayev so was frightfully awful, it brings to mind that Mickey Know quote... "A lot of people walking around out there already dead. They just need to be put out of their misery."

Chon was that messenger of death.
