Is it a rule that if you’re from Essex you have to act and speak like a bellend?

Liddard’s just said it twice, history being revised!

Eddie’s already in overdrive, talking about him like he’s the second coming of Sugar Ray. The man could sell sand in the Sahara. Give it a week and he’ll be “a global superstar” and “the face of British boxing.”

Skye might be getting lodged for George tonight — Eddie was seeing so many £ signs.

Aren’t both boxers trained by Sims? Might not be a goer unfortunately - at least, not right now.

I agree, both looked really good tonight. Liddard was one step ahead of Conway from the get-go. Everything done off the jab, which was brilliant tonight.

I thought Bevan looked good again tonight. Hopefully see him in action again soon.

Bevan — trained by Colin Jones too — was very sharp.

I think all the Sims lads — Liddard, Sains, and Benn — have brought each other on, and probably in more ways than just sparring and training together.

Good night for Sims and Matchroom.

Yes, and even better, he was younger than Liddard, when he won the undisputed world middleweight title, at 23 yrs 1 month from the phenomenal Sugar Ray Robinson!

I thought this was on a Saturday, bit annoyed as I seem to have missed a good fight. Congrats to Liddard, and guess I will have to catch up on Youtube.

Liddard really surprised me with a good performance. I have to be honest and admit that I didn't believe he could deliver such a performance and I owe him an apology. However, there is still a long way to go before he starts selling out stadiums.

By the way : Going forward, Matchroom should have their NextGen Shows in York Hall on Friday nights.

He’s an arse licking, narrative creating ****. He’d say that Frank Bruno was a long reigning undisputed heavyweight champion if ‘ Sir Len ‘ and the DAZN bigwigs told him to. For me he ruins every show and will continue to do so until he inevitably says something unexceptable when he’s sh1t talking. He’s a boxing author and a boxing ‘ fanatic ‘ but decides to toe the party line rather than point out that Liddard isn’t the youngest champion. It’s an insult to Turpin‘s legacy…….the *****.

Easy mistake, mate — but York Hall’s always been a Friday night spot. Lost count of the weekends spent in the Salmon and Ball, watching the crowds roll in before heading over ourselves. Made me laugh when Liddard said he was off there for a pint after — proper old-school touch.

No chance of getting tickets for last night anyway — the fighters seemed to get most of them, nothing left on general sale. Bet the touts outside were asking triple.

There’s such a market for small-hall shows on Fridays and Saturdays, where the next gen can actually build their fanbases. York Hall’s a historic venue, but there are plenty like it up and down the country. Once saw Johnny Tapia there — his ring walk was longer than the fight, but the atmosphere was absolutely electric.
