They already do this with other sports don't they ? Their plan seems to be buy the rights to different sports and you pay for each with its own separate pass/subscription , pretty sure they already done this with NFL Season pass etc. Its good in that you wont have to pay for the sports you don't want to watch , however at the price point I'm hearing it'll make it quite expensive to follow just boxing for example.
Good grief, that’ll be an eye-watering cost I bet. No way the fans will be better off with this. They’ll need to have more ‘PPV’ fights to justify whatever this ‘Ring Pass’ costs compared to a normal sub, further watering down the quality of what you get with a normal subscription.
I bet the premium subscription will cost more over the year than buying all the ppv’s, because excluding the YouTube shite there is probably 6/7 Saudi blood money shows a year, or they will start making more of the bog standard domestic shows ppv for normal subscribers.
What will be the price for a one year DAZN Premium subscription ? 229,00 or 249,00 or 299,00 ? By the way : It's quite funny that so many youtubers are so enthusiastic about His Excellency and thank him with all their hearts
My view is that sport streaming companies are all going to move to an a la carte model. Similar to how Amazon have turned Prime Video into a series of distinct subscription channels. Still too many unknowns to be sure whether this good news though. If it's a "standard" boxing sub for the same price as now, with an additional "premium" sub that's pretty muchthe same price as the combined PPVs would have been before, it is not good news at all. I wouldn't have watched last weekend's Sheeraz card because of timezone, therefore wouldn't want to be paying for it. If what they're announcing here is a moderately (say 25%) more expensive sub that incorporates the Ring and Riyadh Season events, then this is a very welcome move. Fingers crossed.
Sometimes I wonder if I am the only that misses the good old days, i.e. 10-15 years ago where an all in Sky subscription got you pretty much everything worth watching across sports, entertainment and movies for a fraction of today’s prices even when taking inflation into account.
I've spoken to a few people and it turns out I was way too optimistic about the price. We're looking at £399.99 for a one year subscription.
I’ve no insider knowledge at all but £400 seems unrealistic. That £280 more than a current subscription ( 1 yr upfront ) divided by 12 equals £23.33 extra a month. Turki doesn’t do 12 PPVs a year so it’s way over the cost of PPVs currently. I might be a f@cking idiot but it’s not going to be that price. Feel free to quote this when I’m proved wrong
