The best card of the weekend was the only non-PPV one. These ‘invite only’ Saudi events are literally giving the fighters no incentive to promote or even perform. No tickets to be sold and they don’t even need to try and sell a PPV as they’re already vastly overpaid for the fight. They’re fighting in front of a load of people who are being paid to be there, who don’t care if they’re any good or not, and the lacklustre atmospheres are on par with the lack of enthusiasm of the fighters it seems.
I don’t get what you actually get for being a DAZN subscriber these days? If Ryan Garcia v Rolly Romero is PPV in the UK then there’s zero point signing up.
This time last year, many DAZN UK annual subscribers on the £99 per year offer came to that conclusion after a year full of tripe with any fight of interest on Box Office. There must be less than 200 UK subscribers left and I have no idea why they keep paying.
As the saying goes, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I feel for the people who wasted their hard earned on those fights, but if they continue to prop up these sham PPV events with fighters only in it for the money, then well they deserve what they get.
I feel the same, but the fighters on that card could and did get away with putting in the bare minimum in exchange for an obscene paycheck. If Turki facilitates any further cards like this then you have to question his judgement, if you haven't done so already.
