I think Wilder should 100% take this deal. Everyone knows he beats Breazeale, then AJ is a much more winnable fight than Fury for him. I don't know that he beats AJ but we can guarantee he won't get his head boxed off for the full 12. Also when AJ has been hurt in the past he stayed hurt, unlike Fury. Add in the fact all the belts would be on the line and it's a no-brainer.

Fury would love it too as he gets the perfect excuse to have a few easier fights on ESPN for huge money. Then the potential Wilder rematch or AJ fight would be astronomical.

Perform Group makes bugger all and DAZN is losing money hand over first, but they seem to be following the PBC business model so I don't think they give two sheets. Like PBC did a few years ago, they're throwing down crazy money trying to get a monopoly, but that just doesn't seem possible in boxing. They'll probably realise at some point the money isn't coming in like they hoped and scale it back like PBC did. Either way, it's great for us fans while it lasts!

If this is legit then honestly why wouldn't he take it. He'll never make more money than this fighting on Showtime or FOX, a $40 mill guarantee for Joshua is insane that's the highest guarantee ever for a heavyweight fight, that's more than Mike Tyson and Holyfield were guaranteed for their rematch.

If Wilder doesn't take the deal then it's a duck. He isn't locked into working with another network, he doesn't have better options elsewhere, he'll literally be making more money in 1 fight vs Breazeale than he has in all his other fights combined and then he quadruples that payday with 2 Joshua fights.

They should erect 100ft tall statues of Emperor Eddie in every major city in the world, built out of solid gold. :deal:

Rumour has it that Deontay turned the offer down because there were too many zeros in the contract.

Wilder has no get out now.

Just what possible reason could he give for turning it down.

Plus it will now obviously be in the US with Joshua boxing Miller in the US next and DAZN paying for this deal. He gets a astronomical payday plus home town advantage.

If he does pass on this offer I suspect he'll fall back to a 50/50 split argument if Joshua is making more.

    It's an interesting question.

There is PR value in a big number. It grabs headlines, gets people talking and helps to create the sense of value. So all sides have an interest in portraying the deal at its largest potential.

It may not be accurate however. How much of these headline figures for instance are headline grabbing distortions? For example, is the payment to a fighter guaranteed in full or in part conditional on performance, in this case sign ups? Maybe some is paid in hard cash, some in DAZN equity?

Wilder will claim he is being taken advantage of and will only accept an offer close to his "true value", around $500 million for 3 fights.

Skipper will offer him the 500mil for signature on a fight contract but on Wilders return to Alabama he will have his assistant offer to swap the money for some magic beans.

Blavatnik is worth $22billion, they have serious capital behind them and aren't spending like this for fun. In order to build a brand you have to operate at a loss for at least a while.

The only issue I can see is if there's lots of conditions to the offer (as there apparently was in the AJ 50m offer a few months back). We only hear the headline top level figure - we don't know the full terms and what those might entail.

If it really is as simple as a flat fee for those 3 fights with no stipulations then he'd be foolish not to take it.

Wilder will come out with some emotional loyalty instagram post & decline DAZN.

It's a good point but let's remember Joshua was vilified for not accepting a deal which allegedly paid him $50 mil yet he had no contract to even see the finer details. Joshua couldn't even get a meeting yet he was accused of ducking.

The only reason to turn this down is to either roll the dice and hold out for more (extremely risky), or he can't get out of his current contract.
