Conlan probably edged it but it was a terrible fight. Another classic case of a UK/Irish fighter staying amateur far too long.
It was totally bizzare tactics as well, when he was southpaw i dont think he got hit once, yet he kept going to orthodox, even in R12. Very odd
Boxxer seem quiet again, they have the Price card but nothing else after. Saw someone alluding to the fact they may end up on C5. No idea what that is based on
https://boxrec.com/en/event/944205 Just over a week out, is this the worst card eddie has ever put on? Chev Clarke from memory dealt with him quite comfortably. The rest of the card is atrocious
Given all the **** chat about Zuffa, Benn, Saudi, etc., Queensberry quietly get on with booking good cards. Don't know if it's DAZN fees paying more than BT/TNT, but nothing much wrong with their schedule since they moved. Did enjoy old Frank saying he'd promote Dana vs Eddie though.
Dave was on Talksport a couple of weeks back (rightly) describing Conor Benn as the best matched boxer ever. Well Dave, you’ve just been given a headline fight against Hrgovic after getting pummelled by an inferior fighter in Makhmudov and then having a 10 second run out against a total pudding. Pretty generous match making there.
This content is protected ‘Extended his contract’ but fighting on a Queensberry card? Eh QB don’t promote Hrgovic do they?
It's funny but it's also good to see the promoters haven't gone back to old ways without Saudi money. Maybe Allen is the latest addition to the Matchroom Talent Agency stable and fights elsewhere
Ducar has gone the distance with Chris Billam-Smith, Aleksei Egorov, Kevin Lerena, Cheavon Clarke, Jordan Thompson. He dropped Thompson and won rounds , and won rounds against Egorov. Pat Brown has only had 5 fights! That's a really good learning fight for just his 6 fight to face someone that durable and experienced. And It would be some statement of his power if he knocks him out early.
I think most people actually want to see Dave do well, but this pattern of fighting stiffs then jumping straight into world class hoping for a different outcome is only going to fast-track him to CTE. Dubois and Zhang couldn’t move Hrgovic, but somehow Dave’s meant to? Feels like another beatdown on the cards waiting to happen.
