The problem is that football is my first sport, boxing second. I subscribe to Sky Sports for the football (and used to be the boxing). Once boxing “left” Sky, the subscription price was the same. Now that boxing is “back” on sky with their Newcastle card, Wasserman show coming up and Stevenson vs Herring my subscription price hasn’t changed. This is where DAZN’s problems are. They really, really need to take that 2nd Premier League package from BT or I just don’t see how it can work.
I don’t think it is at the minute. September non PPV nothing. October Smith v Fowler and probable Whyte fight trumps Sky’s domestic shows. November and December DAZN have nothing announced yet. But they need something good and consistent.
They wouldn't be able to answer that as nobody knoes what AJ is doing. There must be an NDA until the Usyk fight is done as neither sky or DAZN have announced AJ. Whyte I think could just stay freelance and fight by fight choose the network.
The opponents being mentioned for Whyte, I doubt I would bother watching even if I was a paying subscriber tbh
It could be Whyte vs 700 ranked heavyweight in the world and it would still be more entertaining than Fury vs Hammer let’s be honest!
Sky should go after Whyte* and sign him up on a deal, should be quite easy to do so, even get Chisora pinned down (a known name rather than ability) as he goes where the money is. Skys platform is proven and any fighter looking to cash out like Derek would be easily convinced. I think Eddie underestimated the football crowd that Sky pulled over to the boxing, Skys endless adverts and promos during the football , Soccer AM apperances by fighters etc did wonders for each event. *Not saying I understand the hype over Whyte, but he seems to sell.
Unless BT are selling they cant. The rights not going to tender screwed them really. Maybe they can do a deal where they sub licence the games from BT but it depends on what BT are actually doing with BT Sport. https://www.telcotitans.com/btwatch/murdochs-news-uk-steps-away-from-bt-sport-talks/3374.article
Don't think it is easy to get Whyte. If matchroom were still on Sky he still wouldn't have an exclusive deal. I think his happy freelance.
