There's plenty of people who won't even know/care about the price increase as it'll be a drop in the ocean compared to what they spend on tanning booth visits, teeth whitening, tattoos and bi annual trips to Magaluf.
If you look at what DAZN charge in Italy now they have Serie A rights you are on the button. Amazon prime in France had to raise their prices now they got ligue 1 rights. Premier League rights would cost a ridiculous amount of money and unless a broadcaster is willing to take losses raising the price to them levels is needed. There is a reason why Amazon and BT have no interest trying to take the number 1 pick of premier League rights from sky. I have no idea how DAZN can convince AJ and Whyte to leave sky even with the new subscription prices with no ppv money. How can they guarantee they would not make less money by moving from sky.
And forget bloody paying for a Conor Poxy Benn propaganda channel. They've just released a video on their YouTube channel. "Conor Benn watches back the greatest moments of his career thus far." Fack right off.
It’s a month to the day of the first Fight Camp card so it is a touch cheeky. I genuinely thought the introductory offer would last until the end of October at the very earliest given the lack of cards announced so far.
Everyone I know that had subscribed to dazn be it casuals or proper boxing people ( only about 5 people in fairness) have unsubscribed today. I imagine plenty of subscribers have
We discussed this before but when you look at there Serie A tights deal the big price increase was only because they have so much of the rights. Over here they couldn't ever control so much of the football rights. In Italy they show every game every week with 7 being exclusive. What they are doing over there is basically try and steal customers from Sky Italy. Ie football fans cancelling there sky sports italia subscription and then subscribing to DAZN as Sky only have 3 games a week and they are not even exclusive. They could never try and go to £30 a month unless they basically had number 1 pick of games. What messed up DAZN plans in the UK was there was no tender for EPL rights. They launched I believe to firstly coincide with Matchroom contract with sky ending and secondly they knew epl rights were up for grabs. Those rights not being up for grabs put them in tricky position as they are still stuck with just boxing for the foreseeable future. Honestly as I've posted before I don't know why they are so convinced that boxing is the sport to get behind. Boxing doesn't have any guarantees schedule like other sports and it can't even guarantee fights that fans want will happen yet they think boxing can sustain the service until other sports are up for grabs.
Well yeah, of course it would. If someone outbid Sky to get the bulk of exclusive matches, they would have to charge Sky Sports prices. Overnight Sky Sports would become a cricket, F1, darts and golf channel, and wouldn't be able to charge their current prices. Hearn wouldn't have anything to do with that though - he's (effectively) on the payroll, not the CEO. It probably suits him for DAZN UK to remain an exclusive boxing channel for as long as possible - leverage his importance at the next renegotiation.
Why tv schedule really is lacking boxing from Lativia. Matchroon US has fallen on its ass. The Warrington fight is only interesting because how awful he was 1st time round. They have actually lucked into a big fight. Liverpool card is very good. But considering they only have boxing, £8 is too much.
100% they will. Their own boxing channel and Top Rank fights at a fraction of the budget whilst not having to pander to Hearn's demands.
The thing is sky sports v DAZN isn't a thing. Sky sports could show zero boxing and the drop in subscribers for sky sports would be miniscule as boxing isn't the reason 99% of people have a sky sports subscription.
