I third that. I don't usually like to score top fights for the same reason. I don't even come on the site during a fight half the time as I'm engaged with the event and if it's a big fight I usually have guest over.

As far as 10-8 or 10-9 I guess one can factor in what kind of a KD it was, for example, the second KD was truly a slip, but technically it was a KD because Bohachuk did connect.. so when you consider that, and also that Ortiz dominated that round, you can make a case for 10-9.

That's what's so great and so bad about boxing. Too subjective at times. Which I why judges get away with murder. They can score a fight just about any way they so desire.

I bet Olympic breakdancing has more stringent, objective scoring!

The first KD was clear as day, ****ed up how Dent missed it initially. Yes, the 2nd KD was a bit unusual as it appeared that Ortiz swung himself over but still a legit KD for me as Bohachuk landed a shot at the same time.

Also, let's talk about those knockdowns and the immediate aftermath of said knockdowns. The one in the 8th was legit, even though he wasn't hurt in the slightest, there's no argument that it wasn't. But the one in the first was clearly a balance shot/flash knockdown, from what was kind of an illegal rabbit punch. So the reversing of Dock's initial call, while not egregious, they probably should have let it slide. Now, back to the aftermaths, Ortiz comprehensively dominated almost every second of the 8th after the knockdown, with Bohachuk out on his feet for a decent spell, and Vergil won the vast majority of the first, hurting Bohachuk momentarily. They're two textbook examples of how imperfect and at times unfair scoring in this sport can be, because there's no way to score them any other way than a 10-8 for Bohachuk, but those 10-8's, don't come close to painting the full picture of what transpired in them. So sure, maybe a few of the other rounds were too close to call, and could have arguably gone to Bohachuk, but one could be forgiven for looking to give Ortiz a round here and there to make up for those weak knockdowns and credit him for the work he did after them. And add to that it's not like he didn't have a legit argument that he won them and that they were total gifts. So yeah, Ortiz landed more and clearly landed harder, no controversy in the scoring whatsoever in my opinion.

A classic A side robbery. If the names were changed and Bohachuk was the challenger knocked down twice, nobody would be giving him the win against Ortiz. The idea Bohachuk only won 2 out of 10 rounds not including knock downs is laughable. Every round was close with both getting beat up. You would have to looking for every excuse to give Ortiz most of those rounds, and its because he is Ortiz the A side. No way did he genuinely win that fight. Even a draw is extremely extremely generous to him.

One could be forgiven for not scoring a fight according to the rules? Nah. I have never heard of such bending of the rules to try and deny clear knock downs , again classic A side bias. The first was a legit clean knock down, it was a travesty it was ruled a slip to begin with and another example of corrupt refereeing. He was hit on the head and dropped, no slip. Ask yourself would you be making any of these arguments for Bohachuk if the fight was reversed.

Mother****er, along with @Serge I'm one of the most outspoken guys on here, railing against the seemingly never-ending stream of robberies that take place in my country, the United States, especially of Eastern European and Argentine fighters. I abhor the disgusting regularity with which these robberies occur. So do not step to me, spouting any of this nonsense. I made no arguments that the knockdowns shouldn't have been called, or the rules shouldn't be followed, read a little bit closer. I merely said, viewing those two rounds as overwhelmingly one sided Bohachuk rounds due to the knockdowns doesn't paint an accurate picture of what happened in them, which you damned well know is the truth. Vergil dominated the rest of both of the rounds he got dropped in. So it's understandable if the judges in close rounds, would lean in Vergil's favor, because his shots were harder and he landed at a higher clip, ie, he ****ing won them. But sure, they could also be seen as extensions of the rounds he lost 10-8, that he did exceptionally well in otherwise. If the fight was reversed, I wouldn't say a goddamn thing, because I said in another thread that 114-112 Bohachuk was perfectly acceptable as well. It's almost an exact duplicate of last week's fight. Both men winning or a draw are all feasible outcomes. So get a grip, this in no way, shape or form is GGG-Canelo, Kovalev-Ward or Loma-Haney level egregious or obscene.

Whats wrong with scoring a KD round 10-10? Fighter A looses the round but scores a KD, give him the extra point and make it a 10-10 rounds. Otherwise there is a 3 point swing, which is mad, especially with a flash knockdown.

I can confirm this to be precisely, factually, and semantically correct :deal:

The first KD, at least from the angle I saw it looked almost like a Rabbit punch. But giving the benefit of the doubt, it was a legit KD, but weaker than a flash KD since the main reason he went down was because the rope caused him to lose balance when his knee hit on the rope.

The 2nd KD was legit, but again very weak, since it's clear as day Ortiz was going to slip whether Bohachuk landed or not.

That is not how scoring works though. I am not interested in pictures painted, just how the rules of boxing work. Bohachuk dropped ortiz in both those rounds so they were 10-8 rounds, its simple and those rounds should have nothing to do with how you score the rest of the rounds. Zero. That is not how boxing scoring works. I don't think Vergil dominated either round. He finished round 8 strong but overall it was still 10-8. There is no way Ortiz won 8 damn rounds in that fight unless you were actively giving him every close round, which is bs.

I don't think that's quite correct. The knockdown is a two point value and creates a three point swing if the fighter who was knocked down was winning. It would go from 10-9 fighter A to 10-9 fighter B if you are saying that that the fact fighter A was winning before the knockdown should be taken into account.

8th was a classic case of how to score a round 10-9 with a KD. Ortiz got knocked off balance and touched down with his hands ever so briefly after getting clipped while throwing a shot of how own. Perfectly legit, but given that Ortiz won pretty much every second of the frame after that and clearly stunned Bohachuk at one point I think a one point margin for Serhii is perfectly valid scoring.

Lot of oscillation in the other rounds so I don't think calls of robbery are appropriate. Kinda wish even rounds weren't considered verboten because this was one of those cases where at least a couple of them could be scored in the fight.
