One has to wonder what years of absolutely killing himself to make weight has done to Ortiz’s punch resistance.

Bohachuk reminds of Margarito. Tall rangy guys who likes to exert a lot of pressure and rough up his guy in close by moving in behind a jab. More technical than Margarito though. I'm sure Bohachuk has endeared a lot of fans with that performance.
Oh, and Gabriela Fundora is pretty and you can't convince me otherwise.

I thought ortiz won. he connected the better more consistent shots throughout the fight. showed more dimensions to his game, and hurt boha several times, while never really looking in trouble himself.
arguing the knock downs is like arguing semantics. is the knock down legit because the definition makes it legit, or because ortiz was taken off his feet by a legit shot? ortiz was never hurt, never in danger of being stopped. i counted 4 times where boha was hurt much worse than either of those 2 knock downs hurt ortiz and that supposedly gave boha the fight.
i think boha deserves an immediate rematch. or a shot at one of the other straps. i dont think he should lose his place in the jmw hierarchy. although the 2 knock downs arent what they should be, they aint nothing either.

If fighter A looses the round, fighter B gets 10 points. If fighter A scores a KD and you give him the round as an automatic 10-8, the there is a 3 point swing. A gets a point and B actually looses two points. Which I find ridiculous.

Nothing wrong with a 10-10 in case of a flash knockdown.

Fighter B would have to absolutely dominate to get a 10-10 round when knocked down. As it stands they have to win the round BIG otherwise just to bump it from a 10-8 down to a 10-9.

In other words, it would have to be a case where you would have scored the round 10-8 in Fighter B's favor on sheer dominance (without a KD) aside from the moment they suffered a flash KD.

    • 10-8: Fighter A drops Fighter B; otherwise the round is close to even, or won by Fighter A anyway
    • 10-9: Fighter B wins the round pretty dominantly but gets dropped
    • 10-10: Fighter A is on the verge of being KTFO himself for the better part of 3 minutes but scores a KD.

Yea, I don´t like this at all. I always understood that a knockdown was just an extra point. But under the 10 point must system it has gotten pretty convoluted.
So no wonder everyone automatically jumps to 10-8 in case of a knockdown.
