Thanks. I really wasn't following this thread at that point so I didn't know if others noticed it too but I now see I'm not alone in feeling that. They do this with slick boxers all the time, especially slick American ones, but we can also make the argument they were doing it with PBK over here earlier on tonight. It's extremely annoying.

I'm not even arguing it was close but Teo clearly started to relax and solve the puzzle to a certain degree in the last third but the commentators completely ignored his work and continued reading from the script Shakur was schooling him when he either won some of those rounds or they were very close

So not quite Richard Steele in Chavez vs Meldrick Taylor level but still left a bad taste in your mouth.
    I get it.

That was incredible by Shakur. Teo could barely touch him. I gave Teo one round, and that was being generous. And Shakur did it on the front foot the entire time.

what else can even be said?

Yeah. I felt bad for Ortiz he's a good guy and a warrior and I believe he'd already been hard done by vs Teo

Loma being undersized didn't stop him from becoming the unified 135 champion. And a few years later he'd arguably beat an even bigger man in Devin Haney. Taylor got a gift against Catterall sure but he was still the lineal champion, and the fight was seen as a 50/50 going into it. Teofimo beat him and did it more decisively than Catterall managed. And once again, plenty of elite fighters throughout history struggled with and lost to guys they should have beaten. Holyfield, Toney, Tyson, Lewis, Holmes, Duran, Benitez, etc. There are also just some guys who are going to be stylistically hard to look good against like Martin and Ortiz who fought overly negative against Lopez.

Well clearly he can shut out elite fighters since he shut out Teo and has been able to dominate world level guys since he was at 130. Only thing that would make someone doubt his ability to do this is him having some weaker performances like against De Los Santos, but as I've already established even bonafide ATGs can underperform.

Yeah, I was hoping he'd start sitting down on his punches around the 8th so he could get the KO. I'd like to see him in a situation were he is down on the cards and needs the ko to win.

I was hoping he would fight more aggressively like he did with Zepeda, but he boxed Teos ears off. That was a good performance.

SS was on his game tonight. He was sharp and accurate. His timing was impecable. His ability to step back and land the right hook was taming Teo all night. I'll watch this version of Shakur everytime.

Just got home from the fight, not the greatest night of boxing but some outstanding performances in the main 3 bouts

The crowd was electric for the Teofimo Lopez ring walk and did not quiet down until the first round was nearly over. After a few rounds you could hear a pin drop in the arena as Stevenson completely took the play away. Stevenson and Keyshawn Davis completely took in the Terrence Crawford style and mastered distance so well and had tight defenses.

Shakur was in total control. I gave him the first 8 rounds or so. Stevenson dominated with his jab and counter left. His left to the body was less present than I expected but he landed it with good effect in the 6th or 7th. Teo's jab was way too slow and Shakur anticipated it so easily. Much like Ortiz against Davis, Teo could not score effectively when leading. All of his attempts were spotted and snuffed out. I wish Stevenson pressed a little more but he was in total control. The 11th round saw Shakur snap his head back a few times and look to hurt Teo. After the fight I did not realize how swollen Teo's eyes were

I don't normally go for the theatrics but I have to say Lopez's ring walk was incredible, the atmosphere was great. I could not tell if he was loose and comfortable or too relaxed and not ready. In the dressing room I thought Shakur looked nervous, turns out he was just locked in

I thought the Davis fight was very boring but that was more on Ortiz who fought such a negative fight. Davis did so well as the matador and forced Ortiz to try and leap and bounce in into counters. The last two rounds saw the doctor come to look at the swollen eye and I thought Ortiz was going to make the distance until the eye began closing. His defense went from pretty good to not seeing the right hand. I saw some posters complaining about the stoppage, he was done.

Carrington vs Castro was a good fight and the crowd got excited when Carrington was briefly rocked. I liked Carrington waving him in and standing his ground. I gave Castro maybe 3 rounds but he was fading and being dominated. Minus the scary moments, I was very impressed with Carrington. I was at the Garden in July for his win over Heita and was not impressed with his offense or punching power. Tonight he did much better. I really think Castro was KO'd by the first punch but their bodies came together and held him up for 3-4 extra punches that really put him over. That ring walk with M.O.P and the Yankee colors got the crowd pumped up

Miller vs Ibeh is among the worst fights I have seen live in person. That was not boxing, that was sumo mixed with a hockey fight. I appreciated Ibeh trying to move and dance and get room to punch. The crowd went nuts when the toupee came off. Ibeh did some very good work when he had space but Miller was so good in close to the body and with the uppercut. I did not see the stats but it felt like a fight where more body punches than head punches landed. I had it 97-93 Miller, the crowd let the judge who scored it for Ibeh have it.

The best fight was probably Zizo vs Castillo which I had accurately scored 98-92 Castillo. I was in a Hispanic section and we were cheering on Castillo and booing Zizo and his fans. The arena was empty enough where I think his team could hear us, I hope Turki did.

I liked the Carrington as not shy about calling out the champs at 126 and Davis called out Haney which I think is an awesome fight. I don't care about Stevenson vs Benn all that much.

Seems there was casual interest watching this fight.

And plenty got something out of seeing a boxing masterclass. Not a bad thing, especially in this era.

Didn't stay up (or shell out for the PPV) and glad I didn't as fully expected a fairly dull Shakur UD, and that's what the DAZN 'highlights' showed (not that there was very much highlights other than Teo looking afraid to pull the trigger and getting countered at every exchange)
