That’s completely pie in the Sky though. 15,000 signed up to the FREE trial to watch Joshua v Povetkin which has probably been the second most significant fight DAZN have staged in the last year. 15,000 for Joshua, the second biggest star on the platform after Canelo.

You could be right, and I hope it both remains affordable, and provides good competitive content. Time will tell.

Still though, $80m for Klitschko strikes me as bonkers. I don't begrudge him the paydays (if he takes it), but a 43 year old, historically non-exciting fighter last seen have his neck stretched like a giraffe several years ago wouldn't be what makes me subscribe.

The other thing is, Netflix and DAZN are chalk and cheese. Netflix has a far bigger potential audience, every woman on the planet subscribes. It'll be interesting to see how it all pans out anyway

No idea where this 15000 has come from as DAZN never release figures. I believe it was Mike Coppinger who tweeted it originally who works for PBC/Al Haymon. He also reported Garcia v Spence did 400k.

Mate this came from Hearn. Initially people misinterpreted it as 15,000 who streamed it live on DAZN. That is false. There were 15,000 who signed up to DAZN to take advantage of the free trial for AJ-Povetkin. That is a legit fact and clearly that is an appalling number for their second biggest star.

No it didn't. What came from Hearn was the amount that watched it was not far lower than those who watched his previous fight on showtime.

    Now here's a simple question.

Why is this 15000 number has sprung up for the AJ v Povetkin fight yet where are the numbers for any other fight?

How many watched Canelo v Fielding for example? How many signed up for Canelo v Fielding?

You gotta love that anti AJ agenda.

Lastly if Mike Coppinger believes in his source there should be no reason why he deleted the tweet but he did. Why?

That's one of the reasons I'm not convinced streaming will ever replace live tv.

A second stutter in your internet now and again on a film or tv episode won't really affect your enjoyment and it won't be an issue to rewind it if need be. I don't think you can say the same for sport when someone is about to hit a shot in the penalty box or somebody is getting backed up to the corner on wobbly legs.

You’re determined for it to fail just because of Hearn. Forget Hearn and as a fan see the bigger picture. It’s the future and better for us as fans.

Agree and also not everyone has an adapter yet so they can watch streaming on their TV, maybe it's just me but watching sport or anything else on your laptop or phone seems very second rate compared to watching it on a good sized television.

Hearn is his problem. It’s taking over his life.

I find it hard to believe that anyone other than a pensioner is stupid enough to not know that a £2 HDMI cable will connect any laptop to any TV.

Technology will overcome these issues though. It always does. Your digital service is better than your analogue service, your online banking is more secure than wandering down to the high street with your wages in your pocket and so on.

Initial teething troubles are quickly overcome. What we think of as streaming will quickly feel like the equivalent of just watching a channel.
