After saying for weeks I wouldn't pay to watch Joshua-Whyte I was glued to the telly on Saturday night, no denying it. 20+ quid would have been a stretch but since we already get DAZN there was no chance of missing it. Joshua is vulnerable (as you said in another post) and that makes the fights worth watching. I actually over-ran a visit for a slash and missed the knockout after thinking it might go to points Vulnerable fighters are a vital part of boxing. Khan was entertaining, Bruno was entertaining, even Naz got chinned a few times in fights he won well. It's intriguing now too cos AJ might just stink the place out on points and then say something mental too.
Young Daniel is a vulnerable man, and doesn’t have much durability in the ring. He certainly isn’t at AJ’s level as a HW. Even AJ 2.0 who is extremely cautious since Ruiz Jr 1 would take Daniel out. A opening would arise and AJ would jump on it after a cautious jab fest early on. Young Daniel is your classic flat track bully. Looks great when nothing is coming back at him or when his opponent is turning up to lose, but unravels when any pressure is put on him.
theres a video online where frank warren says something to the effect of let me tell you dubois is going to screw this up for every one he's going to knock Usyk the **** out he is deadly serious the lad must have good chance
I heard Shane Mcguigan say he's never known anyone spark more sparring partners than DDD but struggles under the lights with the pressure and instructions.. I think it would be a cracking match up
Thats definitely not a fight I’d want to see again. Only rematch is like to see Joshua in is Parker or a trilogy with Ruiz
I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes a poor performance can be more intriguing than a fight going exactly how you expected. And Joshua's post match antics are also a must see
I dont think Naz was ever vulnerable. He tended to go down due to balance and the unorthodox way he fought. I don’t think he was ever seriously hurt in the ring.
Yeah, but there's something about a flash knockdown even if it's just a balance correction gone wrong, to make you go "oh". In a sense you were assuming Naz would be OK but at the same time, "has he met his comeuppance this time?"
I think AJ would be a strong favourite but it would definitely be a bit of a shootout. I suppose it would depend on how much Dubois can improve going forward
