That sounds like paranoia. I don't know how you take such a leap to make the wall a racial or ethnic issue. It's simply to prevent criminals / bad hombres from crossing into America illegally and harming communities in America.

There are plenty of good friendly Mexican people who have crossed into America illegally in the past and many of those people have gained citizenship. But at this point, wanting to secure the border at areas on the border where it can still be crossed illegally is a means to keep the country safe. Also the wall may be more of a reality than people realize because really it's only needed in certain places on the border where the fences are deteriorating. It's not like building the Great Wall or China or something, it's just converting certain parts of the southern border that would need a wall.

Ok, so it's not about national borders. Because here in the UK the discussion is sometimes very much about whether a country ought to enforce its borders.

Trump is a tweeting mendacious buffoon that's only achievement thus far is improving his golf handicap. He's so far out his depth that you should need a marine submersible to detect him. When are Mexico paying for his wall? No they ain't.

 

I will say this about Trump though. His presence in the white house has been a deterrent for those who wish to come into America illegally. Even without the wall there has been a big decline in people crossing the southern border illegally since he took office. I'm against illegal immigration on principal.

 

In America we have tens of millions of illegal immigrants currently residing in the country. And let's not dance around the point, they don't have a right to be here. Many of them cross the southern border.
