After all the classy sound bites in the Golovkin-Lemieux build-up about GBP and K2 ''doing it for the fans'', Oscar has let his guard drop and shown his true colours in his post-fight comments.

Back peddling quicker than he did against Felix Trinidad, he now says that Alvarez will fight Golovkin ''eventually.'' Bitter comments about Bernard Hopkins dismantling Golovkin, Golovkin producing the third most impressive performance of the night, it was all reminiscent of De la Hoya's behaviour after a loss as a fighter. Shame.

Is the post fight press conference on YouTube?
Sounds like Oscar was a real ***** last night.

    Why is golden boy upset?

Isn't this fight what he wanted?

He loves to make fights for the fans, but only if his guys are winning them apparently. Sounds like Alvarez will continue with the catch weight nonsense and swerve Golovkin for the foreseeable.

They were all bitted. Hopkins, Lemieux were. I think Hopkins is upset because he knows his record will be broken.

Agreed. Hopkins and a microphone are becoming a more unbearable pairing fight by fight.

Bumlovkin will never surpass Hopkins where it counts, as an ATG.

I saw an Oscar post fight interview (IIRC with Michelle Joy Phelps) and when asked about Canelo/GGG he said if Canelo/Cotto is a competitive fight "maybe we'll do it again, two times, or maybe three times who knows". I suspect those are his real intentions. Doubt we'll see Golovkin Canelo in 2016 in spite of Canelo weighing more in the ring than Golovkin for a few years now (174 versus Trout). He'll fight at 155 for the next year plus while claiming not to be a MW.

this shouldn't really be a shock to some, DLH being bitter after his fighter loses negotiating strength in the form of a belt for future fights

I think he's just revealing his actual thoughts after the 'lies' that go about with promotion. In truth, I think ODLH fully realized that golovkin was the odds on favorite to win, but by feeding lemieux to him he could dangle a belt to golovkin(IBF) and entice him not to exercise his WBC title shot. Remember, ggg said earlier that he wouldn't step aside unless the winner made a signed commitment to fight him.

Now oscar can have cotto/canelo for the wbc belt and potentially do a rematch too(and just promise golovkin the shot after that). Two mega fights (the fight and the rematch) instead of one. I want golovkin to fight the winner of this fight very much, but I think that's the motivation for everything here.

You're right..Hopkins will alway be the better ATG ACTOR!!

But for fighting, GGG will always be better than Hopkins....because he fights, not fouls, or wrestles.

    Or Peds:deal

Hopkins 160 resume is highly overrated, greatest wins coming against a blown up welter and a fighter who started his career at 130.

Besides DLH and Tito you had alot of no name fighters.

Oh, please. GGG has already far surpassed what Hopkins ever did in the ring. Hopkins was about as boring as it gets. Most of the time opponents got so bored they got caught because they were nodding off. The ONLY reason people talk about Hopkins is his longevity. Yeah, he stuck around a long time and survived a lot of fights but other than that he was a yawner. And he commentates about as well as he fought.

On the other hand, GGG not only wants to please the fans, he delivers. He brings Big Drama Show every time.
