“People were talking about Pacquiao-Mayweather for six, seven, eight years. People have just begun to talk about Golovkin-Canelo a little under a year ago,” De La Hoya said to International Business Times.
“Canelo is a fighter who fights all comers. There’s not one challenge that he has shied away from. It’s just a matter of timing. Canelo’s not a full-blown middleweight yet, and if you’re gonna fight the very best middleweight out there, you have to do it at the right time and get the experience in that particular weight class. Canelo’s gonna fight him sooner than later, and it’s not gonna take six or seven years, but we’re looking to make that fight very soon.

Them why the **** is he moving back down in weight?
Thats right, if Canelo can stay at 154 then he has no reason to fight Golovkin. :dead

"So Canelo and I will play dress up tonight and discuss his next three fights at 154"
Oscar is talking smack and then smoking crack. The actions and selections of opposition shows no signs of Canelo testing MW guys

Following common business rule 101 of US Capitalism:

Time of release of product is when consumers sales peak, not based on quality, but when what consumers will pay based on demand is highest.

The wise CEO will not sacrifice company revenue to appease a few impatient consumers, leaving targeted monies on the table.

You can reference the Time To Product Release/Peak Demand revenue model for Mayweather-Pacquaio to get an idea of how important patience is in making plans to maximize revenue.

    Exactly

    It's a smart business move

It's not Canelos fault GG waited until he was 31 to finally take on a decent challenge

Sadly it's mostly this. People can call it fear if they want. Oscar sees the risk, and it's a high risk, so they'll want to maximize their earnings before and during. In layman's, they know Canelo is likely to lose, which will crush their future earnings, so get what you can now. Canelo won't fight Golovkin until his numbers drop. The same reason Mayweather and Pacquiao finally fought.

    :rofl
I know it sounds like hate but Canelo just frustrates me because up until all this I was a big fan of his. The Khan fight was an embarrassment as far as opponent selection and then him running his mouth only to drop the belt:-(

Canelo is still young and will make millions for years to come so he needs to slap Oscar out of his high heels and make this fight happen in 2017. A great HOF boxer does not have to be 60W and 2L to get inducted:D Canlo can survive another L if that is how the fight ends more so than GGG because Canelo still has 8-10 more years for prize fighting :bbb

Man up Canelo and be the warrior you were in the past:|

    Free advice:

If you pursue business. Work for someone else, and let them do the thinking.
You completely missed the above lesson, likely because of your weak foundation.

The plan addresses risk, but only as a third/fourth level decision. The risk is compounded by every fight each has before the targeted threshold date. So, the risk is distributed over time across both parties.

At Prime Time Zero (Fight time), Canelo's risk of losing is not as great as you believe, but the generated revenue will be much greater than you seem to expect.

Personally, I'm not near as interested in Golovkin-Canelo as I was for Mayweather-Pacquaio or Ward-Kovalev.

I'm not really a fan of either Canelo or Golovkin.

As a fan I'll be happy to wait 5 years to see a shot version of GGG fight Canelo who will probably be damaged good himself because the prospect of both these fighters, who already earn enough to never work again in their life, lining their pockets with a few more million bucks excites me. As a fan, nothing gets me going more than the purse each fighter makes.
