Don't know if you guys have read the thread in the General, but for those who avoid it like the plague: http://www.stumbleupon.com/s/#2sA5ug/www.lopeztonight.com/oscar_de_la_hoya.php/ I can't tell if hes having a laugh but for me it seems like its true, Oscar De La Hoya is returning to boxing!
I think this may be the case with Hatton as well - I said as much earlier. Pac just bust up arguably the best welter out there (who was at worst not far off prime), it was over by round 4 and Cotto was knocked down twice, so you can't blame them. Apart from Cotto having a bit of success early on, the fight result (to pac) was very soon a foregone conclusion. Still, we will have to wait and see if he really comes back and this isn't just a load of bravado.
PS I'm not really sure I want to see him back, I was glad when he called it a day - he was boring me rotten.
I don't see what Oscar has left to prove. Who would he fight? I personally thought he beat mayweather by a point (that's how I scored it on the night, one of the judges agreed with me). Is there a fight out there that makes sense for DLH now? I think not. Regardless of what you think about Oscar you can not call him a ducker, he always made the big fights happen, but there isn't a fight to be made right now.
Maybe Mosley who's fishing for money, one last big payday, but failing to find an opponent at the moment.. I should imagine at his age, Mosley would be happy to slip out of 147 too.
I said when he lost to Pac it's not because he's shot (lame excuse the man himself put up), it's because he was always massively overrated in pure boxing terms, and Pac is just a much muvh better fighter. Same with Hatton, he's not shot (only a few months before Pac sparked him Hatton fans were boasting how good he looked against Paulie). DLH and Hatton 2 massively overrated fighters who got spanked by Pac as they're nowhere near as good, simple as that. how many of his superfights has DLH won? how many of his has Hatton won? having the popularity and clout to manouvre yourself into big fights is one thing, being good enough to win them is another. Plus DLH got gifts over Pernell Whitaker and Sturm to name but 2, while Hatton has had more than his fair share of 'help'. DLH as phoney a person as you will come across with that 'great guy' act, trust me. A total ***** of a person and massively overrated fighter.
I sense a pattern developing here. Betty seems to have issues with 'popular' boxers.......I'm not qualified so I'l leave it to those with an 'A' level in Psychology to draw their own conclusions.....
Plus he doesn't like Thierry Henry, one of the most popular football players of the decade - go figure....
