De La Hoya *consciously* tried to relax in the ring and it hurt his defense.

That's how I saw it in the fight -- sure, Oscar is always tense in matches, but that concentration has helped him to parry, block and dodge punches. In several moments in the match against Forbes, I saw Oscar standing tall, doing his usual twitchy movements with his head and upper body, responding to every movement his opponent made, and then he visibly relaxed his body. And got hit, on occasion.

I think Oscar is too far into his career to unlearn -- I think he has the work ethic and motivation to learn new things, but this seems too big of a change.

If this is the plan, I expect Mayweather to land more than he did last time.

Oscar has been boxing for 30 years. I think he is a great fighter and I admire him for all of his accomplishments, but with that said, if he hasn't learned how to stay relaxed after all this time, he never will. The only reason he seemed so "relaxed" last night was because he was in there with a natural lightweight in a glorified sparring session.

I see what you are saying , you can't attempt to relax cause it will f up the rest of your game. You should just fight relaxed instead of telling yourself ok relax in there

i like the conscientious attempt to relax in the ring. he was able to try it against a game opponent with quick hands and looked well. he still has to work on it but i applaud the effort. Oscar looked consistantly good all 12 rounds and had a shutout on my card. what more could he do? i like Big Floyd in his corner again.
