Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao (junior middleweight) Juan Manuel Lopez vs Sergio Manuel Medina (WBO super bantamweight championship) Victor Ortiz vs Jeffrey Resto (light welterweight) Gerry Penalosa vs Abner Mares (bantamweight) Rey Bautista vs TBA (super bantamweight)
That just can't happen. Oscar and Manny command such high purses that no fighter that is not willing to fight for scraps can fit on the undercard.
They should just throw the Z Gorres fight on Dec. 5 on this undercard as well.. I mean, why not? I also would have liked the whole Filipino vs Mexican thing, but it's still nice seeing some good fighters on the card..
Golden Boy Promotions does this **** on purpose, and I'll show everyone why. 1. Liquor and T-shirt sales. If any of you jack asses purchase this rip off, you will notice, that probably NOBODY at your little fight parties is watching, or interested in the prelims. Same thing with the Live Event. Check out all the empty ass seats until about 3/4 of the way past the JML fight (If it goes 12)..... What are all the peoples with tickets doing? They are in line baby, buying 12.00 cups of draft Tecate (Does anyone want to do the math, as to how much profit the MGM will make off of the sale of 1 $12 cup of Tecate ****?) They are buying 40 dollar t-shirts, 50 dollar baseball caps, and for the lucky ones, 500.00 Jackets with "de la Hoya-Pacquaio" written on the back. Among other miscellaneous items. Is your date hungry? Buy her a hotdog, and some nachos and that will only set you back about 25 bucks. And you thought the movie theatre was a rip off. These worthless prelims is where GBP makes their profits. And the MGM and Tecate as well. The funny part is going to be on the 5th, after the weigh in. Oscar and GBP always put out little Autograph booths outside of the MGM Ballrooms. I wonder what schmuck they will stick there this year. Sugar? Rocky Juarez? Borenard? Not a chance. They will stick Abner Mares in there, in a cheaply made GBP sweatsuit, boredly sipping on a bottled water. It was hilarious, last year, I was hanging out, and a Tecate Girl was basically begging me to go talk to him and get his autograph. I asked her "Well, who is that" and she didnt know, and I started laughing at her, and I told her, "Sweetie, if I dont know who that poor slob is, I SERIOUSLY doubt, that anyone wants his signature, but you might at least learn his name":hi:
Why no welterweights, middleweights or light heavyweights? Those that are traditional weight classes that the masses of people remember and relate to? Juan Manuel Lopez vs Sergio Manuel Medina (WBO super bantamweight championship) Victor Ortiz vs Jeffrey Resto Gerry Penalosa vs Abner Mares
The best way to make stars is to put guys like Juan Manuel Lopez, Victor Ortiz and Abner Mares on an undercard of a PPV which will be seen by atleast 900,000 people. If these guys put on a show, they'll help boxing in years to come. What the sport needs is to bring in the new talent, which is exactly what this undercard is going to do.
