Cotto never even made it to the stool. He quit in the middle of the ring.

It is not even close to what happened to Frazier.

Cotto took a ****ing BEATING .....you cant lump him into quiters like judah, rahman, and peter. To some degree he finally quit after a ton of punishment and knockdowns....but none the less, it was beat out of him. you know nothing about boxing if you think Cotto quit because the going got tough.
if you want to see what a quitter is
    see
    Raul Marquez (vs abraham)
Jesse James Leija (vs micky ward)
    Chavez (vs Randall 2)

Didn't the ring doctor stop the fight? Wasn't it up to him in the end? I agree, Cotto was done.

Raul Marquez is a good example of someone quitting. Another one comes to my mind when thinking about Krasniqui. He quit on his stool when he was winning.

OK dude, you have proven yourself to be one of the biggest idiots on this board. Quitting and being BEATEN are two different things. Those guys were beaten phisically which you obviously don't understand because your fighting is done from the keyboard. Growup and go face some adversity then come back and post.:patsch

Oscar is just to old now he has had a bigger better and more popular career than Pacman, Oscar should now retire.

If that fight would have gone to the end - let's say to the finish, four more rounds - it was entering the "permanent damage" realm for Oscar. Just the way Oscar was fighting in the 6, 7, 8th... you just knew he didn't want to take a knee, he simply was not going to let himself hit the mat. A much less brave fighter would have gone down two or three rounds earlier.

Don't get me wrong, I wanted Pac to win and I was happy to see it. But I also didn't want to see Oscar get permanently hurt. And that very well may have happened if the fight went on.

i wouldnt say oscar is a quitter, but given his performance, and his history against trinidad- this act cries of self preservation. How many times have we seen fighters such as malinaggi, lacy, jones, pavlik and yes cotto- take full on one sided beatings from the opening bell, have no chance of winning, yet fight on regardless- determined to see the final bell - and 'go out on their shield' so to speak. Oscar was bruised up - but he wasnt severly hurt in my estimation- it was his pride that was damaged. he couldnt stand being embarrassed for 4 more rounds more than anything. and if he as about to hit the mat- then i think he was doing it to save himelf from being ko'd . I m not saying that people that stop between rounds are quitters- and certainly not calling into question the bravery of the guys of the toughest sport in the world. Im just saying- others have copped more- and yet- something has not allowed them to quit. Look at how upset malinaggi was for having his fight stopped in the 11th- despite not having a real chance to win either? there's that other thing. pride. paulies pride didnt want to stop- oscar's pride or rather - vanity - didnt want to be physically stopped.

Can you blame? He was being dominated like never before in that fight. Would you rather him risk serious injury instead?

Oscar is 35, been boxing for 30 years, he was taking the beating of his life, perhaps risking brain damage or other serious injuries, and you think its a "disgrace" that he, or anyone in a similar postion quit?

What type of macho bull**** is that?
