He just fought Fury for the HW unification and a fortune.
So this would be quite strange to see.
There are some reasons I could imagine him going back to CW for stock fights, to avoid being in Ukraine and because he doesn't feel comfortable trying to maintain size at HW and dealing with the massive opponents.
I think the truth is he has been hurt worse at HW lately than at cruiser, so maybe he realises he's rolling the dice fighting there at this age.

True, Dubois technically knocked him out.

Usyk can beat the shot HWs like Fury and AJ, but what of these younger HWs, he is taking a huge risk.

It's funny you mention this because barring a Fury win and a rubber match, there really isn't a legit big money fight left. Joshua is out....Wilder is long out. Beterbiev might have been sellable, but most thought he lost to Bivol. Bivol also eliminated Canelo, who was being discussed for awhile.

Hard to imagine where he goes for big-money fight. Dubois rematch is probably his best option.

Zurdo has to get past Opetaia first and the later isn't a stiff overachiever plodder like CBS or a stiff inactive plodder like Goulamirian who had only fought once in four years. Opetatai is a highly skilled, active, slick, quick P4P level talent with power, variety, accuracy and great footwork. As you can see from his style he's watched a lot of master boxers like Usyk and Bivol and incorporated a lot of their style into his own. He's a big fan of Bivol and we all saw how Bivol played with Zurdo and Fraudnelo without even needing to move out of 2nd gear.

Speaking of Fraudnelo. Let's not forget that little coward became undisputed in a graveyard division whilst avoiding the second best guy in the division and actual legit threat like they had leprosy even though he was in the midst of his steroid enhanced prime

And even worse the ginger coward knows full well that he always has the safety net in place of having the judges in his pocket to rob his opponents of their legit wins.

Apparently bums like Bumlangy, Mung, inactive career 154 pounders like Jermello who hadn't fought in a year and a half or even at 160, let alone 168, a shot 40 y/o GGG, and a C level Juan Ryder were worthy of a shot at his belts but not the #2 guy in the division who was apparently ''too big'' even though he only weighed 5-7lbs more than Fraudnelo and Bumlangy and Mung are bigger than Benavidez.

Fraudnelo wanted no smoke with a legit threat since Bivol schooled his overrated ass even though he's in his early 30s not pushing 40.

If so, then don't go down too fast, go to Bridgerweight first. Become 3-division champion, to add to his accomplishments.

How would a shot Wilder coming off two lop-sided losses possibly qualify as a massive payday? This isn't 2016-2021 anymore.

Ramirez has taken the path of least resistance for his entire career. The only time he's fought a world class fighter at the top of their career he got schooled. It's no coincidence fishnets has opted for the route they've taken at CW.

No thanks. Why can't Zurdo fight Opetaia? I wouldn't mind the winner of Zurdo-Opetaia fighting Usyk. But not before.

I would prefer Usyk to fight Parker or Kabayel or Bakole. Really interesting match ups. Stay at heavy. Losing 10lbs at this stage in his career could weaken him. Stay at heavy and either wait for the winner of Opetaia-Zurdo to move up or fight deserving guys like Parker, Kabayel or Bakole.

Tough spot for Usyk...nobody adds to legacy assuming he beats Fury. Zhang is even older and Wilder shot to bits.
