    I just woke up.

I meant DLH did make more money but not by much.

Tyson was the king of PPV draws.

Averaging a staggering 1 million per fight.

Making barely less in 2/3 of the events.

Tyson is easily the king, he got ****ed by Don King but is the PPV king.

That coupled with the fact that may was undefeated made it much more intriguing.

Of course it did, but Trinidad and DLH were also undefeated when they met.

If you look at the list, Oscar was far from the king as Tyson, he couldn't carry a PPV at all. He needed a B side that had a name.

Every single successful PPV had a B side. The ones that didn't fluttered down to 300-400.

Hell Naw! Floyd was NOT a house hold name when DLH faught him...afterwards his stock grew but the attraction was DLH! Which is why DLH made $50 Mill and Floyd got $25 mill. DLH when he faught Tito wasn't half as popular as he was when he faced Floyd.

He's doing a good job fooling everyone if he is in fact kidding. I can't believe there are any fans or causual observers of the sport who even now would know Floyd over Oscar de la hoya. I doubt we'll see someone in boxing grow to be as popular in the US as DLH.

    :huh

Then why did only get to half that amount once after.

People knew who Mayweather was, but not like they do now, but he played a good villain on 24/7 which is what people want.

    The numbers dont lie.

    Pernell Whitaker (4/97) 720,000 buys = $28.8 million

    Ike Quartey ( 2/99) 570,000 buys =$25.7 million
    Shane Mosley (6/00) 590,000 buys = $29.5 million
    Javier Castillejo (6/01) 400,000 buys = $16.0 million
    Fernando Vargas (9/02) 935,000 buys = $47.8 million
    Shane Mosley II (9/03) 950,000 buys = $48.4 million
    Bernard Hopkins (9/04) 1 million buys = $56.0 million
    Ricardo Mayorga (5/06) 935,000 buys = $46.3 million

Question...What do these guys do on PPV's without DLH?

That's to be expected. Mike was a HW champion...the youngest in history and the HW division by large always out shined anyone in the lower weight classes....AND THAT IS CONSISTANT THROUGOUT THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT.

What DLH was able to do was bring attention to the smaller fighters and weight classes which opened the doors for these small guys to make HW MONEY!

I see your point that Tyson has the better average but having a better average doesn't out shine what you actually do in numbers. No one remembers the baseball player with the best AVG of home runs...they remember the HOME RUN KING!

They are still names, with the exception of Castillejo.

Whether or not their names draw by themselves is irrelevant.

Look at what Oscar did when he didn't have a name people knew on the other side.

    Campas....

Mike Tyson is the PPV king, he created Box Office...!!!

Oscar De La Hoya was a superstar..

But Mike Tyson was in the same league as Michael Jackson, Elvis etc..

    By far the PPV king..

    By far the bigger athlete..!!!
