At the post fight press conference Hopkins talked about his phone call from Oscar De La Hoya immediately proceeding the fight and how Oscar told him "Man! You exposed Pavlik!" De La Hoya's a hater, eh? Good thing he doesn't post here.
If Pavlik loses a couple more fights & looks mentally shot, he might just get a fight with the golden cherrypicker.
De La Hoya has moved up 24lbs from his first title, he has only cherry picked in the twilight of his career. Mosely twice Trinidad Quartey Ruelas Gatti Hopkins Mayorga Sturm Chavez Whittaker to name just a few, that is a pretty impressive list. Quite a few P4P top rated guys there.
De La Hoya got in the ring with Pavlik's daddy. Whocares anyway? Of course he is going to say something like that, he ****ing thrashed him.
''Exposed'',what does that mean? The word used in boxing terms, what does it mean?Does it mean Pavlik was exposed like the great white HBO hype and will get his ass beat the same way everytime now?Or does it mean he made a bad decision to go up 10 lbs in a bad style matchup for him?Amir Khan was exposed,Pavlik just lost,it was no brainer that you can outbox him and that B-Hop was the man to do it
Exposed doesn't have a set meaning, thats why its a stupid phrase. Because its all relative. Exposed as what? He was certainly shown to be a limited fighter, with little to no adaptability against an elite boxer. Though he is still world class at middleweight, although its a highly overrated division imo, and yes i have said this before the Hopkins fight. Its got two quality fighters at the top, and thats it. It doesn't have the solid top 10 like the Super Middleweight division, but because of the hype surrounding Pavlik it suddenly became a "quality" division.
You make a good point. The way in which some people might think of a fighter getting exposed is when that fighter is seen as being virtually unbeatable; and then they get utterly dominated by someone they were supposed to beat, commandingly. Getting comprehensively beaten, thoroughly, is a basic exposure.
