depends on which oscar turns up. the uptight, less defensive oscsr of mosley, quartey fights gets beat imo . but the more defensive and mobile oscar of the whitaker and tito fights is a different beast all together
This is an atg vs. a very good fighter in Curry. Oscar would not fall like McCrory did. Oscar would use his jab in a grueling fight for him. He would have to work hard to keep Curry from not hitting him with counters. I pick Oscar by UD.
I like DelaHoya. At some point, Curry is going to catch him clean, and if he thought Quartey hit hard, he'll have another thing coming. That puts Oscar on his bike and content to move and not engage too much. I like Oscar using his better wheels to outbox Curry for stretches, with Curry having moderate success. Oscar wins a decision. I could easily see it the other way. Good match.
I'd take Curry UD, he really was quite something on his best night and Oscar always had slight problems with speed and i don't think 147 was his best weight. I think it'd be even until about halfway and then Curry would take over en route to a decision. Oscar's second wind would let him down.
No, that puts Oscar on his ass trying to regain his senses. Yeah I know Oscar had a great chin but at his peak Curry had serious fireworks in both hands. If he caught Oscar clean it would be a hell of a lot more than a wake up call.
There lies the "rub" stopping Curry from hitting you with laser counters, i've always liked oscar but he don't have the tools IMO to be able to overwhelm a fighter of Curry's calibre, Oscars not got the speed or the style/inclination to play the countering game as Honeyghan had + Lloyd was also a vicious ****er to boot. Very hard night for Oscar, just can't see him outboxing or even getting the upper hand to dictate the action against Curry. Oscars aggression is his downfall here. It's a Curry UD all the way for me. I can only see Mosley at 147 giving Curry something to think about.
I see your point. I go back and forth on this. The problems Curry had with Honeyghan and McCallum in big fights is what makes me think Oscar would edge it. Curry had a digging deep problem. He did well with Norris when he was the big underdog, but in his prime he couldn't dig as deep as some when he had to. I just go by the fact of Oscar's jab. Oscar had a great jab and great determination. It was hard to hit Oscar with clean counters. But I do go back and forth on this matchup, just on the fact that Oscar was moving up in weight when he fought at 147 and he was not at his best weight compared to 135 or 140.
Mosley,Forrest & Mayweather would give the prime Cobra tough fights at 147 but only Floyd gets the "w".
The Donald Curry that destroyed Milton McCrory in 2 rounds would beat Oscar by a good-sided decision.Any other form of Curry is neck-in-neck with De La Hoya, with a green Curry having the possability of being kayoed.
I would expect Curry to win. and very possible by KO This punch is just sick .... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bwJSvNQPaY[/ame] funnily enough, Curry had a very similar thing happen to him two years later against McCallum
I would go for Curry, pre Honeyghan he really was looking like special fighter. Curry on points. Talking about the McCallum, Don was giving Mike a very decent argument till he was taken out with that great shot.
