i would have loved to see that fight take place at a lower weight with both in their primes just to see how it would play out. Floyd would have had to use a different strategy than he did in their fight because DLH would out boxed him IMO. not easily but i think that floyd would be to inactive to gain any real rounds.

I agree with everything but 140, I give that to Hoya too.
We also have to remember that below welterweight people did not have much punch resistance against Hoya's left hand. If he landed it you were down, that simple. We have to assume that Floyd would have taken clean shots and still been standing. Also, Floyd used quite a bit more offense in these lighter weights and so this adds to the give and take a bit.

I don't know. Molina and especially Gonzalez were hit with left hand bombs and they lasted the full 12.

When DLH would land with the left hook, I assume PBF would adjust and try to do his best to negate that punch. He'd probably end up fighting a primarily defensive fight, just like he did at 154.

Mayweather certainly does have defensive skills comparable in quality to any fighter in the modern era IMO. However, I don't think Mayweather looked as fast at 147 as he did at lower weights. He became more defensive, attacking at speed in only short bursts. I don't think he has the power at 147 to seriously hurt 1999 Oscar, and I don't think the 2007 Mayweather could produce the same all-action performance that Mosley did in 2000 against that Oscar. I think you make some good points in your post and I definitely think your viewpoint is valid, as that's how I see a DLH-Floyd fight going at 140. I just think that Oscar was better at 147 and would be too strong and too active, he would win a decision IMO.

A case can be made for Gonzalez who was tough as nails in that fight.
I don't expect that Floyd would be hanging onto Oscar for dear life as Molina did throughout that fight. Molina didn't get knocked out because he fought a style that is synonymous with -can't-let-this-guy-knock-me-out.
