lets say instead of pernell whitaker, oscar picks one of the other fab welters at the time to make his welterweight debut. I think that oscar was a superior fighter in 1997 to what he was in 1999. he was more dedicated and didnt seem to have any baggage going into his prerparations like he did in 99. there was no stories of personal problems At this time he was only 3 months removed from arguably his finest performance against migual angel gonzalez. i though he boxed perfectly that night anyway i see him conclusively beating quartey on points unlike in 99 when he left the verdict to be disputed. The tito fight would of been a lot closer IMO. tito was not as drained at the weight in 1997 as he was in 1999. i fancy oscar to pull it out though by either ko or close points win
Quartey wouldn't have been coming off nearly a year and a half of inactivity, and I thought he beat Oscar anyway, so this one goes to Ike. The late round KD makes people forget exactly how little Oscar did for most of the fight. Against Tito, well yeah Tito had weight problems for awhile, but I'm not sure exactly how drained Tito really was, and how much of it was an excuse. I see it being similar to the fight that did occur in September 1999.
