De La Hoya vs Pacquiao Will Prove What A Joke P4P Rankings Are

If Oscar totally dominates Pac and knocks him out it'll only show that he was underrated as a p4p fighter. It won't show that Pac is **** and it wont show that p4p rankings are a joke.

Alot of people think Oscar still has a case to be top10 or top15 p4p (not me). Look at his recent record.

KO loss to a much bigger top p4p fighter in Hopkins, in a fight where Oscar was competitive until the KO
Bull**** win over Felix Sturm but Oscar was fat and out of shape and fighting at 160.
Controversial Loss to Mosley who was on steroids.

It's not a serious issue is it, pound for pound is a bit of fun and something everyone will always talk about. Apart from when you get hatton and De La Hoya talking about winning a fight to "become" the best pound for pound fighter, taking the ****.

 

If Pac wins though it will make them more legitimate!

Are you learning disabled? How does a P4P elite fighter losing to somebody BIGGER make his P4P ranking bull****? I honestly can't believe the difficulty you are having understanding a very simple logical situation here. P4P means IF all weight and size were EQUAL. Meaning Oscar may beat Manny Pac, but according to the current P4P rankings and the opinion of basically everybody alive, if Oscar and Pac were the SAME SIZE then Pac would no doubt beat him.

What you are referring to would only occur if the P4P best went up against a SMALLER fighter and lost....then his P4P ranking would be up against some serious scrutiny :deal

Hatton seems to be under the delusion that p4p is a belt you win by beating the incumbent. Strange.

I have no problem with having a p4p 'champion' it helps market the sport below HW. But the constant lists are moronic.

 

How so?:huh P4P is just a way for smaller fighters to get more recognition.....or at least it was when the HW division was the glamour division for so long.

But the foundation of the P4P ranks are based upon real tangible information about fighters. Of course P4P ranks mean something....it highlights fighters who are ultra talented who have the ability to fight out of their normal weight classes, fighting at a physical disadvantage yet skilled enough and talented enough to beat odds.

If you don't believe that the P4P ranks have some kind of validity you are only kidding yourself. Guys like FLoyd Mayweather, Ray Leonard, Duran, Armstron, Pep, Robinson ect have proven the case for the P4P ranks by beating men larger than than themselves and not by somehow overpowering their larger foe...but by skills, determination, talent and the championship spirit that wills so many of the all time great boxers to come out on top and defy the odds.

 

what does that mean "makes Oscar p4p?" you can't be P4P. You can be #1 p4p, #2, #3, #4, #5, etc.

If Oscar completely destroys Pacquiao, then yes he moves up on p4p list, espcially for those like me who think he will have a hard time.

DLH SHOULD beat PAC! So by doing what he should wouldn't warrant him the #1 spot, but it will move him up.

I agree that if someone moves up 10 pounds and beats the bigger guy they are not #1 of anything....especially not the P4P title....but the guys we are talking about are not just "Someone"...they are current and past multi division world champions who are still relevant in todays boxing.

Both men have proven their skills, talent and abilities by what they do in the ring so if PAC wins you are right...it will do more for his P4P status..if DLH wins it won't do as much, but will do a little for his present rank on the P4P charts.

 

It's probably just cunningly disguised.
