Ruelas wasnt **** ODLH was just so hot that night he made him look like that. Ruelas was a good fighter with some good wins, but his style was made to order for ODLH. I think ODLH was on fire against Chavez the first time and looked like a perfect fighter that night, but Chavez eye cut short a masterful performance. I
Ruelas wasn't close to being the same fighter he was. His physique was dreadful and his balance was worse. He was the walking epitome of a shot fighter and did nothing else in his career after being sparked that night. Oscar done the business but you can't call it his greatest win anymore than you could say Cleveland Williams was Ali's greatest. Agreed on the Chavez fight.
Ike Quartey....both showed skills, power , speed and grit. A slugfest fought on the highest level. Wasnt a clear win but it was exciting and proved DLH's worth
You dumb ****s can't understand this poll is about best fight, not best win. Take your insecurities to another thread. Vargas is at the top for DLH's most dramatic fight.
I think it was the Trinidad fight though officially its a loss he beat Tito, regardless of lossing the last three rounds he won atleast 8 of the 12 rounds IMO.... The Vargas win was a great win simply because of the hate between the two... its always fun to see a trash talker get his ass served up some humble pie, especially when its later found out that he used steriods and that didnt help.
Although I think Oscar fought a smart fight and executed his gameplan perfectly, it lacked the drama some of his other big fights had. Depends on what you consider "best" fight to be
Hoya had a tremendous boxing display against high physical adversity aginst Vargas and that's why I think he went on to the second part of his career with so many huge paydays. Listen, the guy was always a gifted boxer and a great fighter against guys like Ruelas, JCC, losing to Trinidad and Shane Mosley, coming back under Floyd Sr against Gatti and so on... But if it wasn't for that Vargas turnaround, there wouldn't be a shot at a MW championship, a new shot at a SWW title and fights with Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
