I'm new here and I'm not sure if this has been discussed so I thought I'd make a thread about it because it's something I would be interested in watching.

Now that Oscar De La Hoya has defeated Steve Forbes over a Unanimous 12 round decision, and is set to fight Floyd Mayweather in their September rematch, De La Hoya still has one more fight to go to finish of his great career.

Now what I'm asking is what people think of a December fight between Ronald 'Winky' Wright and Oscar De La Hoya? Would yous be interested in this fight if it was made to happen, or do you see a better opponent out there for De La Hoya.

    My viewpoint is this.

Floyd and Oscar know business and know legacy. Floyd is going to drop this next fight to Oscar in a close contest, maybe a last round TKO or something.

    Why? Cha-CHING.

December Fight - FMJ vs ODLH, 1-1 against each other and winner takes all in their final fight, a fight both will go all out in.

FMJ will make what, 20 mil for this fight? He'll make 30-40 mil for a rematch if De La Hoya beats him

What one thing do neither of these fighters have in their career? A big name trilogy. What one thing tends to set fighters up legacy wise, not to mention brings interest to boxing? Trilogies.

Look at Micky Ward, substandard fighter still getting credit for his trilogy.

I think it'd be good but I can't see DLH taking on Winky as his last fight. Too much of a stylistic nightmare for DLH. If DLH was a hungrier younger version of himself I could see him do it but not now, not this close to the end. If he gets through Floyd it will be Cotto. If he doesn't than Floyd will probably be his last fight.

I don't see Mayweather losing to Oscar in their rematch, well at least not on purpose. He has alot of money yes and of course he wants to make more, but him being and undefeated champion and retire on top as an undefeated champion means more to him then money being made with a third fight against De La Hoya.

Well, that's a very involved plot that people would see through very quickly. It's not so easy to throw a fight, especially by tko, as people think. Remember Floyd's acting against Big Show? crawling along the floor like he was a jedi being zapped by the evil emperor?

He's been pretty upfront about wanting to fight in the big arena in Mexico.

My guess is JCC Jr would be the guy assuming a BIGGER fight with Cotto or Hatton doesn't come up first.

Well I will have to disagree with that last comment about Floyd being Oscars last fight if he loses. I'm pretty sure Oscar will have a third fight whether he wins or loses to Mayweather.

Oscar wants to go out with a bang, if he loses to Mayweather I'm sure he would like to have one last big fight to end his career on a win. And a fight against Winky Wright would do that.

    Why?

Because Winky Wright as you said would be a stylistic nightmare for Oscar, and a win over Wright which I see possible at the weight of 154 would be a great way to end a great career. Plus Winky hasn't got anyone to fight, so De La Hoya being only one weight class below Winky would be perfect as Winky can use the time to slim himself down to 154.

If he can't make Cheato Trinidud work his ass back to 160 then he will probably fight Cotto or Mosley.

I don't think DLH would fight Winky at this point, Winky has been out of the picture for a while and the other fights are just bigger and signify payback if he wins.

I heard DLH saying that there is something he can see in Cotto that he might
defeat him. I suspect that his fight in December might be agains Cotto.

You should start writing novels, instead of posting on here cause that story is wildly fantantic.
First of, i think win or lose for DLH he wont fight Mayweather a third time. Even if they'll be even a third fight wont be necesary.

The talk of a December fight between Cotto, or a Mayweather rubber match if DLH pulls off the upset is just that, talk.

Only gullible people would actually believe it, so naturally, boxing fans fall for that crap.

Fights of that magnitude would take WAAYYYY more time to properly promote.

May 2009 if those fights happen.

i don't know if that would be his last, and if it is i would be guessing that its hatton provided he wins against lazcano. Oscar wouldn't be fighting someone like wright for his last fight..
