An excellent jabber for sure, but vulnerable to a good jab too. Sturm, Whitaker and Quartey all won their battles of the jab with Oscar pretty convincingly. He's lucky he never faced Winky, would have been a jab-massacre.....
Didn't mosley outjab him in the first fight they had as well?Been a while since i watched it though, so could be wrong
Oscar had a good jab. He was left hand dominant. I think he was a converted southpaw. He didnt have much of a right behind the jab. That limited his offense somewhat. I wouldnt say it was an ATG great. It was good.
Oscars jab was very good and effective when he didnt abandon it like he did in some of his later fights.
While his jab in the Mosley II fight was his main weapon....He's threw it more fluently in other fights with more power too.
Excellent jab. Remember Oscar is a natural lefty who fought in a conventional stance, but his jab was very good.
Yep. World Boxing actually rated Mosley's jab as the best in boxing in 2000, simply on the basis of his ability to out-jab DLH in their first fight.
Good analysis. I take Steward's quotes with a grain of salt because he was so prone to overstatements and contradictions. For instance, he said in 1995 that Trinidad would have a tough matchup for any WW...Hearns, Leonard, etc.....Then a few years later he said "Oscar should have been more aggressive, Trinidad would not have lasted 2 rounds".
