De La Hoya said to the Boxingchannel, “I think it’s a little bit of that insecurity factor coming into play. If you fight someone, you don’t need to shave off a couple of pounds because you feel they’re going to come in weak or because it’s going to be an advantage. We have weight classes for that reason. It’s [the catch-weight] going to help Canelo’s speed and help him be a faster fighter.”

Didnt he fight Hopkins at 155???

DLH's comments on the catchweight have been deceptive from the beginning. "It's going to help Canelo be better, faster, blah blah blah." All to act like this is something that's helping Canelo. Yet he says we have weight classes for a reason, yeah so you don't have to have catchweights. :patsch

DLH honestly is riding FMJ on this. "I think it’s a little bit of that insecurity factor coming into play." Yeah it sure is DLH, and who is the insecure one?

Floyd is the insecure one, De La Hoya thinks Floyd did it to drain Canelo because he is insecure, but what Floyd doesnt know is that in reality its actually going to help Canelo. whats so hard to understand??

Well it may end up helping Canelo, but lets not act like Floyd was doing Canelo any favors with the catchweight.

He's got to sell the fight, so they are going to spin it to be a good thing. Its a good compromise, floyds the smaller man and not a natural welterweight. Floyd is also the main man and can dictate the terms so canelo had to give something to make the fight. But no matter what dlh won't start saying anything bad on the catchweight unless canelo loses, then we will hear the excuses.

Wasnt it Canelo's team and Delahoya who asked for the 152?

Yet Floyd says Canelo team asked for it , which does not make sense because why would Canelo even asked for a catchweight in the first place . It just dont add up .

Of course Floyd will deny it because hes well aware that people are ready to attack him for his catchweight contradictions he made in the past .

He's probably referring to the actual number(152) since as far as I know, could be wrong though, Mayweather's team requested 150 but Canelo's team said 152. The catchweight request itself came from Mayweather.

The obsession with catchweights on this forum is way over the top.

At least it's related to boxing and not some nonsensical junk. In the end, catchweights are a part of this sport whether people like them or not and they're not illegal, it takes two teams to agree and no one is forced into them. Those that don't appreciate catchweights shouldn't watch fights that involve them, simple and easy.

A few months back DLH/Canelo offer Fraud to fight at 150, I think 152 is fair enough for both parties...
