Well think of the opportunity cost. If PDL does not fight Gerry he will more than likely in the future fight Vasquez or Marquez and that is bound to pay more than this. Besides Gerry has nothing to offer PDL. He is not even close to being popular or even known by the average boxing fan. Risk is not really there since this time it would be easier for PDL so why not try to milk it.

When he faces Vasquez/Marquez he will. Oh yea and PDL does not need Gerry. HE has many good fights ahead of him. Gerry is on the end of his career and wants a big payday so he wants PDL. First of all i think Johny Gonzales should fight him again and take care of Gerry. He was lucky the first time. It was a onesided beating until that body shot.

Whoa:yikes , what on earth...:patsch . If DPDL really did not think so highly of GP and the boxing lessons the latter gave him, there is no sane reason to demand such an unreasonable stash unless he is fighting the likes of Rafa or Izzy...:bbb ****, I did not even think that either RM or IV earned that much in any of their first 2 encounters, and Ponce is still a notch lower than these two awesome gladiators...

Ponce De Leon isn't even known to the average boxing fan. Boxing is an individual sport and he has every right to ask for 800,000. Sure, he beat a very green Boom Boom but that's not his fault for destroying a guy in 1 round.

Only 2500 tickets were sold for JMM-Juarez fight. $1.5M max for JMM, take it or leave it.

I honestly don't even know why De Leon is proceding with this rematch. He got the decision and most people thought he won, he should just run with it and escalate his competition at 122 lbs, attempt revenge on Caballero and get slotted in to face the champion.

He already said he don't want Caballero anymore. And this guy is called an Aztec warrior? No wonder the Spanish Conquistador easily beat them.

    Well dang if thats true.

He already beat his mandatory in Bautista, so he has a free year to face whoever he wants. He should look at the top 10 list and pick one, except for the top 3 guys.

He already Pick one that's rated #63 in boxrec. http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=40526&cat=boxer

    I don't think he'll make even 30% of 800K for that fight.

heh unlikely to make over 200k for this bout. Just a stay busy fight to fill the undercard of the Hatton-PBF fight I guess. He should just surprise us and fight one of those asian guys with the tongue twister names.
