De Mori to battle Calloway this Saturday in Australia on GFL

The expected mismatch was duly delivered. Rob Calloway was down in the first round, and damaged sufficiently for a stoppage inside 4 rounds. No surprises there.

Rob Calloway is now in long overdue retirement. Provided he keeps his word of course. The guy's been talking retirement for years. Including what was going to be a big home town retirement fight when he turned 40. But it's since been a case of 'just one more fight'. 'Just one more fight'. Good innings Rob Calloway. But it's a pity for your head's sake you didn't hang them up a few years back.

Mark deMori now simply has to step up and fight someone not pre-damaged, heading to a retirement home, or both.

Calloway was a lot more impressive than I thought he would be. Got dropped by a big overhand right, early, got back up and kept coming forward.

Mark was backing up most the time and definitely didn't need to go searching for him.

Calloway caught a few solid jabs and another big uppercut that I thought may have stopped him, but no he kept coming forward.

Needed to be stopped by the doctor cause he was busted up, but never took a backward step. Huge respect for him.

Was nice to see Mark land some different shots he hadn't landed for a while, overhand right, check hook and uppercut. Didn't need to use much much footwork but showed the speed of his jab was still a big asset.

Calloway was a definite step up from Alexander.

Interesting that Marks trainer from the US was sent to the fight to give King some feedback as to where Mark is at. Hopefully something is in the works.

All of the undercard fights were great, professionally done show and the entire crowd singing the National anthem prior to the fight was stirring.

Looks as if everyone left feeling they got their monies worth which is the main thing at the end of the day.

I look forward to posting the WBC belt draped in the purple feather boa.

Nobody ever doubted Rob Calloway's courage or his ability to keep getting up off the canvas. Something he's unfortunately had almost record amounts of practice at during his past 6 or 8 fights.

Rob Calloway would have been a great opponent for Mark deMori about 5 years ago. Let's hope for the sake of his own well-being Calloway sticks to his prefight plan of retiring.
