    He couldn't make the CW limit anymore. This was common knowledge at the time. He beat the recognised top guy at CW at the time in Mormeck and was going to move up to HW, but due to the money offered for the Maccarinelli fight and it being signed quite soon after the Mormeck fight (meaning Haye wouldn't blow up in weight too much), he took the fight then moved up to HW as previously planned.

    Plus, no one was really calling out for the Haye-Cunningham fight at the time. Cunningham went 1-1 with Wlodarczyk and beat a green Huck. Yes, it wouldn't have been a bad match-up, but lets not pretend it was a 50-50 must be made fight at the time.

    if Gaye was fighting Cunningham...

    I wouldn't criticize it...

    at least Cunningham doesn't come to
    lay down for a check like De Mori will...

    then everyone will offer De Mori $$$ to
    pad their records with another KO victim!!
