De Niro Could have fought Professionaly?

yes, I read the book and as good as the film was I felt there was so much more material in the book that should have made the film. scorsesse took over the story and though it made a great film its not the biography at all. In the book there was nothing about vicky and joey where as the film aluded to a love triangle that must have been scorsesse's take on it. maybe jake changed the name to protect his brother in the book but in much of his escapades in the writen original jakes right hand man was a regular buddy not his brother joey. I love the film and yet it still puzles me why non boxing people vote it the best film of the 80's, I dont know what is in it for them?

 

Jake said "I'd put him in the top 20 in the world". He meant pros!! Its nothing to take seriously. Jakes promoting a film. He'd say anything to make a buck.
