Ali Raymi a Fly weight from Yemen with an inflated record died in an air strike in May

The WBA ranked him no.11 in their June rankings

I think the WBO have done something similar a few years back

Did Raymi even really exist? I know there are a few videos of a guy fighting without using a jab purporting to be a guy called Ali Raymi but the whole thing smacked of an invented character.

Yep, here has been a much worse case of that before, a guy getting introduced or moved up in ranking months after he died. Not sure if it was WBO or IBF though.

I'm sure it was the WBO who did it previously. Raymi was real incidentally. There's like one interview with him on-line...it's really quite interesting

He was real, I was friends with him on Facebook. Spoke to him a few times, seemed a genuine character.

I think he means he wasn't a real contender. If you saw the guy's "fight" footage you'd almost fall over laughing.
It's about what you get when putting two semi tough 11 year olds in gloves and in a ring. And I don't just mean the size, but the way they fought, with Raymi acting like the tougher kid of the two.

I read about this on the General Forum back in May and I thought it was dispelled as a myth? (his death, not him being a real person).
