These were some of the most devastating punchers and finishers ever, but who was the deadliest of the three?

jackson for me. it didn't have to land consistently, often or with any kind of set up. it just had to land

Hearns, not necessarily because he was the most powerful but because he had the speed, range, accuracy and pressure. Although he may have been the most powerful too

thinking about it this way, you may be right

with jackson, you KNEW the right hand was coming. there wasn't always a set up (though his left hand was also incredible)

hearns was much better at ensuring his punch landed and landed well. his accuracy was ****ing unreal

Being more polished might make you a better puncher but not necessarily a deadlier puncher.

I give the edge to Jackson. His power was incredible.

Surprised Foster hasn't even been mentioned; Bob was leveling guys during his reign.

Jackson. IMO he's the hardest puncher P4P of all time. He could knock you out cold with punches that grazed you.

    1. Jackson
    2. Foster
    3. Hearns

All were killers. I've never seen anything like Jackson. The only argument is who is the second deadliest puncher ever.

Gotta go with Jackson too. I've never seen anyone who could so consistently do so much damage to his opponents with a single punch. Except when throwing a jab, every punch that Jackson throws has murder written on it.

Foster and Hearns are right up there, especially Foster, but Jackson is my pick. The only complaint I have about Jackson is that a lot of his victims weren't anything special.

Hearns ko'd better men than the other two. I'd actually put Jackson last despite that he may have been the single hardest hitter of all three, and maybe anyone ever. It's deadliest not hardest. In tis regard Hearns undoubtably trumps both for me.

Don't agree. I think Norris certainly was better at 154 than Duran at 154, and Graham probably better at 160 than Duran at 154. Norris of course didn't have Duran's chin, though. At 154 or any other weight.

But who is the next best fighter Hearns KO'd? Cuevas? Very much of his reputation of a destroyer comes from his KO of Duran. After that the drop in quality is quite big.

You say that like it's hardly worth noting, when it was actually a monumental achievement.

    Hardest hitting: Jackson
    Most effective: Hearns

Foster is not far behind in either category.

I should have expanded and mentioned quality of chins too. Very good fighter Norris but a rather ordinary chin. Roldan was a good stoppage too, Hearns totally sparked him where as Marvin ground him down.

Hearns was also stopping good fighters at 175 and men as big as cruiserweight.

No argument Jackson could poleaxe just about anyone he hit. He was 100% explosive.
