I mean, when 2 fighters meet in the ring, both with the same great abilities, for example I remember the Zarate- Gomez- fight, both had great power, or the Ali- Patterson- fight, these 2 fighters had the best HW- handspeed ever, etc., give me some more examples...
Hearns-Leonard: speed (and power was damn good too) Duran-Leonard: similar to above, except less power Mosley-DLH: speed Camacho-H. Davis: speed Foreman-Lyle: power
Ron Lyle VS George Foreman- Power without stamina Gatti VS Ward- Courage (and mastery of blocking punches with the head) Lennox Lewis VS Tony Tucker- Tall and timid Carl Thomspon VS David Haye- Killer instinct Joe Louis VS Jersey Joe Walcott- Two of the best ever counter-punchers
Very good examples, guys! :good I have some others: Tommy Hearns- Pipino Cuevas- Power Stanley Ketchel vs. Billy Papke- Power Maurice Hope- Rocky Mattioli- Power Ruben Olivares- Bobby Chacon- Power Young Stribling- Maxie Rosenbloom- Defense Muhammad Ali- George Chuvalo- Chin Lou Salica- Manuel Ortiz- Slickness Johnny Dundee vs. Tony Canzoneri- boxing skills in general "Butterbean" Eric Esch- Joe Siciliano- Pure fat
True; it's strange to believe that, at the time, Ali was regarded as the chinny boxer to Chuvalo's iron-jawed brawler routine. atsch
Exactly, when we now look back to the times, it´s pretty funny how they reckoned Ali´s chin, well, even "experts" make mistakes... :yep
You can understand it, though- if Povetkin was knocked down by Bostice and Donald, there'd be questions about his chin. Then again, even after Wlad was down against Steve Pannell and knocked out by Ross Purritty there were still those who pretended he had a good chin.
Agreed, good example but it´s a difference between, let´s say a mediocre chin at world-level, or a glass-chin, it´s really amused to see how people always so quickly overact with all kind of things... Even right now some Klit- nuthuggers say he has a very good chin (all of his suffered KD´s were more because of exhaustion, you know )
I like Carlos Zarate Vs Alfonse Zamora, both Undefeated ko cha, pions with only a few people going the distance with them. I saw it On ESPN Classics and it is one of my fav fights.
