Deal reached for Cotto / Jennings.

he'll be making far more than he has before. dunno how its gonna be career ending. if he even gives a fairly good account of himself it will raise his profile, not end his career. unless your suggesting cotto's gonna kill him or something.

 

I dont really agree that this will leave Cotto Ill prepared. Most fighters can only take so many punches in there career before there punch resistance is shot. I think Arum is just trying to keep Cotto fresh.
However i do agree that Mosley is the perfect fighter for Margo at this time. His chin is freakishly good and i dont think he is the kind of fighter who will suffer loss of punch resistance. Assuming Margo gets past Mosley, he will be well prepared for chasing a boxer around a ring.

This is a useless fight. Cotto's bank account is the only winner here. Cotto got beaten to a pulp in his last fight. They're going to put him in there with a set-up before matching him with the same guy that beat him down a year ago. They probably should've put Cotto in with a soft touch in Nov. and then matched him with a fringe contender in February or March before having him take on Margo again.

 

I was going to make a threat about this actually but since you brought it up I am putting my 2 cents.

I definately agree with you. If Jennings is the warm up for Cotto to face Margo again... Cotto is getting his ass handed again. PERIOD. I hope that he (Cotto) is smarter than that. I rather make him fight Clottley who is a big WW with a great chin as Margo is and make that fight (Clottley vs Cotto) as the preparatory fight for Cotto.

Cotto should win, but Jennings is better than some of my american cousins think he is.

Cotto by 10 ( but if he isnt absolutley on his game, he could well have his hands full !)

i've seen jennings fight many times and i don't think he has much chance. there is always a very small chance of course but the point is me and govan are making an educated decision on it, whereas the numpites giving it cotto TKO jennings round 2, or jennings will get murdered are saying this without having the slightest clue who michael jennings is. its just stupid, and it makes them look stupid

 

If Cotto is the same guy he was before Margo then no , Jennings skill will probably hold his own for most of the fight but Cottos bodywork will likely grind him down before the championship rounds

What I'm saying is , If Cotto takes Jennings lightly or if he is still a bit shellshocked he may well find himself behind on points with time running out !

I've looked at Jenning's level of comp, I have seen one of his fights, I've also seen some clips, and read about him as well. From the information I've gathered, I don't believe Jennings belongs in the same ring with Cotto. This guy is nowhere near prepared to deal with a guy like Cotto.

 

Well, I guess we just have different outlooks on the fight. I firmly believe that Cotto will beat the **** out of Jennings. You, on the other hand, have left yourself plenty of wiggle room. You've basically made two predictions, which would cover you either way.
