Byrne is currently based in Wildcard and his career has began to stall. He was inactive for a year after May 2009 and only had 3 fights in 2010 against journeymen with negative records. He's only fought twice in Ireland and that was against poor opposition so we don't really know how good he is. Would be grateful if Austrlian fight fans could let us know what they think of Byrne and the time he spent down under...
Byrne was very impressive from what i had seen of him in Australia. His boxing skills were terrific in dismantling the tough Chris McCullen. Definitely someone who would have cleaned up most in the Asia-Pacific at 140.
Yep, very handy fighter. As mentioned, he done a hard 10 rounds to win the Oz lt wltr title outpointing McCullen. Defended it once then left our shores. His history since has been a bit of a disappointment really. I'm just endorsing Kegsy's opinion really.
thanks for the posts lads. can only assume that he's paid the price of playing second fiddle to so many stars in wildcard. rumour floating about today on the british thread that he's joining arnie's gym in manchester. hopefully a good move...
he was pulled from the bill unfortunatley, not a great disappointment really, he was scheduled to fight another journeyman
Crissy certainly had a **** night at the office that night.....nothing worked for him. Byrne was lucky he didn't get DQd, with Johnny Lewis continually abusing ref Cyril Cairns e.g. "Get farked ya farkin bold-headed ****"
I know he pissed of a fair few people here then split to the states I wonder if he did the same and had to split again
