How's these for results by Francis, when he was around 24 yo: TKO7 Cornelius Carr (Carr lasted 12 rds in WBO title challenge to Steve Collins) TKO12 Mark Baker (Baker robbed vs a young Clinton Woods) KO9 Frederic Seiller (Collins had to stop Seillier on cuts, in messy WBO title fight) TKO6 David Starie (Starie ran Ottke close for IBF/WBA belts; made Calzaghe look like a novice over 12 rds causing Showtime's then head Larkin to say that Joe wasn't ready for big fights after dreadful WBO title fight) I think Deano was ready for that WBC title. He would've done a better job than Misters Reid, Woodhall and Catley, who tossed the belt around around like a stick of dynamite. These are great results for a fighter in development. He had been developed PROPERLY by Frank Warren & moulded into a complete fighter. No shortcuts, no bullshitting. He was ready for anything. Francis' shoulder injury brought on one of the greatest losses to British boxing. Great that he's back winning fights at light heavy. He's still very good. Stopped Ovill McKenzie in 1 (McKenzie dropped Denis Inkin, before losing on PTS), TKO'd Oakey - never before stopped, and had fought as a heavy/cruiser in the amas, etc.
